JD Cymru North round-up | Holywell Town go top after Airbus UK slip up

Denbigh Town became the first side to take points off Airbus UK Broughton in the JD Cymru North this season with a 2-0 victory over the Wingmakers at Central Park on Friday night.

Matthew Worrall and Paul Fleming both found the net in the second half of what was Dewi Llion’s 150th game in charge of Denbigh.

As a result of Airbus’ slip up, Holywell Town moved top of the table on Friday with a comfortable 4-0 win away at Prestatyn Town. Jake Cooke, Luke Wiltshire and Zebb Edwards all scored inside the opening 32 minutes, before Edwards grabbed another in the second half.

Flint Town United leapfrogged Caersws and went third in the table with a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over the Bluebirds on Saturday.

After Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro’s opener, Craig Harris and Rhys Hesden scored within six minutes of each other to put Caersws in front, but Sol Forde equalised in the 75th minute before Elliott Reeves provided the winner in the 87th

Porthmadog also earned a late win after Ifan Emlyn scored in the 94th minute to beat Gresford Athletic 3-2 at The Rock on Saturday. The other four goals had all come in the first half – including two penalties for Porthmadog and one penalty for Gresford.

Bangor 1876’s recent poor form continued with a 4-0 defeat away at Ruthin Town on Friday. The in-form Soulayman El Amri netted twice for the hosts, while Harry Martin and Owain Morris bagged one each.

Mold Alexandra were the highest scorers in the JD Cymru North this weekend as they triumphed 5-2 against Chirk AAA on Saturday. Jake Roberts scored a brace in the first 24 minutes and Danny Warren made it 3-0 by half-time.

The Colliers threatened a comeback as Dale Davies and Jake Ellison scored within three minutes of each other in the second half, but Mold substitutes Eric Durnell and Sam Duffy made sure of the win with stoppage time goals.

Llanidloes Town and Buckley Town took a point each in a 2-2 draw on Saturday. Connor Bird put the Daffs 2-1 up as his brace cancelled out Connor Littler’s opener, while the Bucks’ task was made harder through Joe Haley’s red card just before half-time. However, Asa Hamilton’s first league goal of the season earned Jason Aldcroft’s side a point.

Llandudno remain without a point in the JD Cymru North after a 2-0 defeat to Guilsfield on Saturday. Jake Cook broke the deadlock just after the half hour mark and Jamie Hyne netted three minutes from time.
