JD Cymru North round-up | Peers scores treble in emphatic Airbus display

Airbus UK Broughton sit seven points clear at the top of the JD Cymru North at Christmas following a comfortable 5-0 home win over Caersws on Saturday.

The Wingmakers wasted no time as George Peers’ lethal strike from distance broke the deadlock inside just seven minutes and the midfielder doubled the lead shortly before the half hour mark as he tapped home from Kaiden Cooke’s inviting cross.

Peers completed his hat-trick in the 71st minute with another brilliant finish, before Cooke scored his first league goal since August by sending a clinical curling effort into the far corner two minutes later.

After numerous chances throughout the match, Danny Warren eventually got in on the act in the 89th minute as he raced through on goal and finished one-on-one past Max Williams to wrap up Airbus’ eighth consecutive league victory.

Buckley Town climbed up to third in the table with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Denbigh Town at Central Park on Saturday.

The Bucks took the lead after only six minutes as Max Moore produced a deft finish from Aled Bellis’ square ball, while the second goal arrived in unlikely fashion just before the hour mark as Danny Holland’s corner sailed directly into the back of the net.

Sam Duffy denied Buckley a clean sheet with a goal in the sixth minute of stoppage time, but Asa Hamilton’s side saw out the game to claim a fifth consecutive league win.

Guilsfield earned their biggest league win in over three years as they thumped struggling Llay Miners Welfare 6-1 at home on Saturday.

Full-back Callum Bromley had not scored since August but netted twice in the opening 48 minutes, either side of James Smallwood’s goal, to put Guilsfield firmly in control of the contest.

Joe Haycock added his name to the scoresheet on the hour mark, before a flurry of late goals. Smallwood netted his second of the afternoon a minute before Bisensio Kamilo got Llay on the board, but Guilsfield would have the final word as Haycock scored again in stoppage time.

Weekend results in full:

Airbus UK Broughton 5-0 Caersws
Denbigh Town 1-2 Buckley Town
