JD Cymru North round-up | Stoppage time drama earns Airbus victory

Airbus UK Broughton scored twice in second half stoppage time to claim a dramatic 3-1 victory away at Buckley Town on Tuesday night.

The game looked to be heading for a draw after Liam Driscoll cancelled out Jake Eyre’s opener, but George Peers struck in the 93rd minute and Kaiden Cooke in the 96th to hand the Wingmakers a second consecutive JD Cymru North win.

Denbigh Town got their first points on the board following promotion by winning 4-1 against fellow newly-promoted side Caersws. Rhys Hesden gave the Bluebirds an early lead, but Craig Pritchard and Nathan Brown scored quick-fire goals to turn the game around.

A red card for goalkeeper Jack Perry made matters worse for Caersws, with Brown scoring the penalty that resulted from the foul before Paul Fleming also found the net after the break.

Corrig McGonigle was again the Bangor 1876 hero in a 4-2 away win at Llandudno. Goals from Dan Cox and Craig Whelan gave the newly-promoted side the lead before Harvey Bennett and Danny Holland levelled the affair, but McGonigle struck twice in the final 25 minutes to retain Bangor’s place at the top of the table.

Porthmadog got their first league win of the season by triumphing 4-1 over Chirk AAA. Cai Jones opened the scoring before a red card for Chirk goalkeeper Oliver Fairbrother gave Port a further advantage.

Danny Brookwell doubled the lead and although the Colliers pulled one back through Max McLaughlin, a quick-fire brace from Telor Williams made sure of Port’s three points to take them fourth.

Ruthin Town also got off the mark for the new campaign as they came from behind to win 2-1 away at Prestatyn Town. Tyler Magee gave the Seasiders a half-time lead, but Gwion Owen and Owain Morris struck within three minutes of each other in the second half to turn the game around.
