JD Cymru Premier games to watch | 28-29 November

There is a full round of midweek fixtures in the JD Cymru Premier across Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Here are the key fixtures to watch.

Bala Town v Caernarfon Town (Tuesday, 7:45pm)

The top-flight’s two Gwynedd clubs go head-to-head on Tuesday evening as Bala Town host Caernarfon Town at Maes Tegid.

Just one point currently separates the two sides in the table after 16 games, with the Lakesiders in fifth on 24 points and the Cofis in sixth on 23.

Bala, who scored a stoppage-time winner to beat Aberystwyth Town in their last outing, are the third-lowest scorers in the league but have the second-best defence.

In contrast, Caernarfon are the third-highest scorers in the JD Cymru Premier but they have conceded the joint-most goals. Richard Davies’ side are in their worst form of the season having lost their last three matches in succession.

It finished 1-1 when the two sides met at The Oval earlier in the season, which made it eight consecutive games without defeat for Bala against the Cofis.

Barry Town United v Penybont (Tuesday, 7:45pm)

Local rivals also meet in the south as the Five Mile Lane Derby recommences between Barry Town United and Penybont at Jenner Park on Tuesday.

Two wins from their last three matches have seen Barry climb to ninth in the table, but they are still nervously looking over their shoulder as they sit just two points above the relegation zone.

Penybont were beaten 2-1 by Colwyn Bay on Saturday afternoon, leaving them seventh in the table and two points off a spot in the top half following just one win in their last seven league games.

Chris Venables’ acrobatic goal earned Penybont a 1-0 victory against Barry in this season’s reverse fixture, meaning they are unbeaten in their last seven matches against the Linnets.

Colwyn Bay v Connah’s Quay Nomads (Wednesday, 7:45pm)

Despite Colwyn Bay sitting near the bottom of the JD Cymru Premier table and Connah’s Quay Nomads competing at the top, it is the Seagulls who are in better form ahead of their Wednesday night clash.

Consecutive wins against Pontypridd United and Penybont have moved Steve Evans’ side out of the relegation zone and up to 10th

Meanwhile, back-to-back defeats against Cardiff Met and Haverfordwest County have left the Nomads still in second place but nine points behind leaders The New Saints.

This will be the Nomads’ first visit to the Four Crosses Construction Arena following their 2-1 victory over the Seagulls in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
