JD Cymru Premier round-up | Franklin hits four as Connah’s Quay Nomads run riot

Connah’s Quay Nomads ran riot on Friday night as Harry Franklin starred in a 6-1 thrashing of Caernarfon Town at the Essity Stadium.

Franklin scored a stunning hat-trick inside the opening 10 minutes in Flintshire, before adding his fourth of the game in first half stoppage time. Jack Kenny and substitute Josh Williams got in on the act in the second half before Louis Lloyd netted a consolation for the Cofis.

Aberystwyth Town earned only their second league win of the season by triumphing 2-0 away at Penybont on Friday night.

Owen Taylor’s first goal for the club gave the Seasiders the lead in the 14th minute, before they were awarded a penalty and Bont were reduced to 10 men when defender Ashley Evans stopped a goal-bound shot with his hands. Aber captain Jack Thorn stepped up to convert the spot-kick and the hosts had no reply.

Barry Town United claimed a first away win of the campaign by beating Colwyn Bay 1-0 at the Four Crosses Construction Arena on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, Kayne Mclaggon fired a low drive into the bottom corner just 14 seconds after the restart to claim the three points which moved Barry up to ninth in the table.

The New Saints made it seven league wins in a row by claiming a 2-0 home win over Bala Town on Saturday evening.

Both goals came in the first half at Park Hall, with Ben Clark unleashing an unstoppable strike past Kelland Absalom before Ryan Brobbel scored from the penalty spot after Danny Redmond had been tripped in the box.

Cardiff Met came from behind to return to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Pontypridd United at USW Sports Park.

Jack Karadogan fired a shot in off the post to give the Dragons the lead in the 28th minute, but Eliot Evans drew Met level in first half stoppage time with a first time strike that flew into the top corner. The turnaround was completed after the break when Lewis Rees rounded George Ratcliffe to score and Tom Vincent tapped in from close range.

Newtown and Haverfordwest County were forced to settle for a point each in a 1-1 draw at Latham Park on Saturday.

Aaron Williams got his 12th league goal of the season with a clever volley in the fourth minute to give the Robins the lead, before the Bluebirds found an equaliser when Newtown goalkeeper Andy Wycherley fumbled Rhys Abbruzzese’s cross into the net.
