JD Cymru Premier round-up | Winning runs continue for Connah’s Quay Nomads, Newtown and TNS

Connah’s Quay Nomads made it seven consecutive JD Cymru Premier wins by triumphing 4-2 over Penybont on Saturday evening.

Two Jordan Davies goals either side of Jack Kenny’s composed finish gave the Nomads a commanding lead, before Bont threatened a comeback as both Chris Venables and Dan Jefferies found the net. However, a 90th-minute Ryan Harrington tap in secured victory for Neil Gibson’s side.

Newtown also continued their impressive recent form, making it six wins in a row by beating Bala Town 1-0 to move up to third in the table.

Aaron Williams’ seventh league goal of the season in the 52nd minute, as he latched on to Ryan Sears’ flicked header, was the decisive moment.

League leaders The New Saints continued their unbeaten start to the campaign with a comfortable 4-0 home win over Pontypridd United.

Ben Clark carried on his strong run of form by netting twice, while Ryan Brobbel and Jordan Williams continued their own scoring streaks with a goal each.

Caernarfon Town moved up to fourth in the table with a 3-0 victory away at Barry Town United – their biggest win since the opening day of the season.

Goals from Zack Clarke and Marc Williams had put the Cofis in control by half-time, before Adam Davies’ sixth league goal of the season wrapped up the three points in the second half.

Haverfordwest County earned only their second league win of the season by beating Aberystwyth Town 3-0 at Ogi Bridge Meadow.

Kai Whitmore was the star of the afternoon in Pembrokeshire as he scored two superb goals following Rhys Abbruzzese’s opener.

Colwyn Bay and Cardiff Met were forced to settle for a point each in an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Four Crosses Construction Arena.

After CJ Craven’s penalty cancelled out Stef Edwards’ opener, the Seagulls’ new signing Brandon Diau went from hero to zero by first netting a header before scoring a remarkable own goal from 30 yards out as his pass back evaded goalkeeper Alfie Brooks.
