JD Cymru South round-up | Goals galore on bank holiday Monday

Alex Bonthron scored a penalty in the 12th minute of second half stoppage time as Cwmbran Celtic earned a 3-3 draw away at Baglan Dragons in the most dramatic of circumstances on Monday afternoon.

The Dragons were 3-1 up at half-time thanks a Levi Waters brace and Owen Williams’ composed finish, but Harrison Lewis pulled one back for Celtic with a bullet header on 56 minutes before Bonthron stepped up to provide the late drama.

Carmarthen Town were the biggest winners on bank holiday Monday as they thrashed Trefelin 6-1 at Richmond Park. Noah Daley bagged a brace alongside one each for Will Rickard, Tom Dyson, Liam Thomas and Cameron Allen.

League leaders Briton Ferry Llansawel made it five wins from five games as they triumphed 5-3 against Caerau Ely. Two goals from Luke Bowen either side of Connor Goldsworthy’s effort put the Reds 3-0 up at half-time, but the Young Guns managed to pull it back to 4-3 on 84 minutes before Josh Bull’s stoppage time goal made sure of the victory for the hosts.

Afan Lido dropped points for the first time this season but just about held on to their unbeaten record in a 1-1 draw away at a Cambrian & Clydach Vale side who are also yet to lose in the league this term. Dave Vincent headed the hosts in front in the first half, but Lido substitute Ieuan Owen netted an 86th minute equaliser after John Hall had been sent off.

Defender Sean Cronin netted a remarkable four goals – three of which were penalties – as Llanelli Town won 5-2 away at Llantwit Major. Sam Johnson scored the other for the Reds, his fifth in as many games, and Scott Coughlan saved a penalty as Lee John’s side moved up to third in the table.

Ammanford are up to fourth place following a 3-1 home win over Abergavenny Town, who remain without a point. Lewis Reed opened the scoring before Rhys Schwank equalised for the Pennies on the stroke of half-time, but a second half brace from Tristan Jenkins earned victory for Gruff Harrison’s men.

Taffs Well claimed their first league victory of the campaign by beating Pontardawe Town 3-1 at Parc Ynysderw. Josh Pope set the tone with a goal inside the first minute, while Ellis Sage and substitute Sebastian Thomas netted in the second half.

Goytre United made it back-to-back wins by triumphing 4-2 at home against Abertillery Bluebirds. The visitors led early in the second half through Kyle Williams despite Leigh Sharp being off on the stroke of half-time, but the Goyt responded through a Keane Watts brace and one each for Jordan Edwards and substitute Josh Jones.
