JD Cymru South round-up | Llantwit Major and Taffs Well end winless runs

10-man Afan Lido came from behind to triumph 2-1 over Cwmbran Celtic and make it three league wins in a row on Friday night.

Alex Bonthron scored his ninth league goal of the season to open the scoring in the first half, before Lido’s job was made harder when Matthew Beynon was sent off on the hour mark. However, goals in the final 15 minutes from Ioan Evans and Ieuan Owen turned the game around for the Reds.

League leaders Briton Ferry Llansawel also staged a comeback in their 3-1 home win against Carmarthen Town on Friday.

A free-kick from Trystan Jones gave the Old Gold the lead in the 27th minute, but Ferry turned the game around before half-time through Alex Gammond and Joseph Jones. Tom Walters found the net in the final five minutes to wrap up the three points.

Llanelli Town left it late to keep pace with the top two with a 2-1 away victory over Caerau Ely on Friday night. David Lyon struck the winner in the 86th minute after Clayton Farrah had cancelled out Ethan Cann’s opener.

Taffs Well ended a five-match winless run in the league with a 4-2 win away at struggling Abergavenny Town.

The Pennies took a ninth-minute lead through Nathan Davies, but Joe Davies netted an equaliser just after the half hour mark and Liam Hutchinson, Ellis Sage and Iolo Jones all scored second half goals to put the Wellmen in control. Abergavenny substitute Nicky Potts converted a late consolation from the penalty spot.

Llantwit Major earned a first win under Ben Stait and ended a 10-game run without a victory by beating Cambrian & Clydach 2-1 away from home.

First half goals from Matthew Kimmins and Joel Woodington put the Major in control and they held on for the three points after the hosts threatened a comeback when Jacob Jones scored in the 85th minute.
