Novira Cymru Leagues July/August Player and Manager of the Month shortlist

The shortlist for the July/August Player and Manager of the Month awards in the Novira Cymru Leagues has been confirmed.

The fans’ vote will be combined with a league and independent voting panel to determine the winners.

Novira Cymru Premier

Manager of the Month

Jordan Hadaway – Llandudno

Llandudno have enjoyed an excellent start to the season on their return to the top-flight with Jordan Hadaway’s side claiming 12 points from their opening six games. The side have also scored 12 goals in the process under the guidance of the league’s youngest manager.

Craig Harrison – The New Saints

The champions remain undefeated heading into September with five victories and just four goals conceded from the first six fixtures. Despite dropping points in a 0-0 draw with Penybont on the opening weekend, Craig Harrison’s side have scored 16 goals to keep the pressure on Barry Town United.

Steve Jenkins – Barry Town United

Barry Town United have enjoyed a perfect start to the campaign with six wins from six to move into September as the early league leaders. Steve Jenkins has overseen changes to his squad during the summer, and this already has the makings of being a memorable season for the club.

Player of the Month

Owen Brain – Barry Town United

A key figure behind Barry Town United’s excellent star to the season has been summer signing Owen Brain. The 22-year-old scored twice on the opening weekend as his side claimed a 3-2 win over Flint Town United and has since contributed a further four goals including another double in the 4-2 win against Airbus UK Broughton.

Zack Clarke – Caernarfon Town

With seven league goals to his name already this season, Zack Clarke has been in superb form for the Cofis with his side claiming four victories from their opening six games. The 23-year-old scored a hat-trick in the 5-3 win away to Holywell Town last weekend to boost his tally for the campaign.

Dynel Simeu – The New Saints

An important defensive signing for the champions during the summer, Dynel Simeu has played a commanding role for The New Saints and has helped his side keep four clean sheets in the opening weeks of the campaign. The 24-year-old also scored his first goal for the club in the 5-0 win over Cardiff Met.

Callum West – Connah’s Quay Nomads

Another player who has made a big early impression on the Novira Cymru Premier this season is Callum West. The 20-year-old has contributed four assists and four goals in the opening six matches, including both goals in the 2-1 win over Flint Town United on Bank Holiday Monday.


Novira Cymru North

Manager of the Month

Jay Owen – Newtown

Newtown have made an impressive start to the campaign with four wins and a draw from their opening five fixtures. In addition, Jay Owen’s side have conceded just once in their 1-1 draw with Guilsfield and have scored 14 league goals already this season.

Gareth Wilson – Brickfield Rangers

Brickfield Rangers head into September as the league leaders of the Novira Cymru North after taking 15 points from a possible 18 in their opening six matches of the season. Gareth Wilson’s side scored five against CPD Llanuwchllyn on the opening weekend and claimed a 5-0 win over Gresford Athletic.

Chris Jones – Porthmadog

Porthmadog have suffered just one defeat in their opening six games of the season following their promotion to the Novira Cymru North. Chris Jones’ side have claimed impressive victories over Rhyl 1879 and Denbigh Town in the process to make it a solid start to the campaign.

Player of the Month

Andy Vale – Brickfield Rangers

One of the key players behind Brickfield Rangers excellent start to the season has been Andy Vale. The 27-year-old has scored eight league goals already this season, including a hat-trick in the 5-0 away win over Gresford Athletic. Vale also scored twice in victories over CPD Llanuwchllyn and Penrhyncoch.

Declan McManus – Bangor City 1876

The Scottish striker has a history of scoring consistently in the domestic game and the former Novira Cymru Premier Golden Boot winner already has five goals to his name this season. McManus has also contributed four assists as his side have taken 12 points from their opening six games.

Jamie Hyne – Newtown

Another player in fine form this season is Newtown’s Jamie Hyne who has seven league goals to his name in just five games. Hyne scored twice in the victories over Gresford Athletic and Penrhyncoch before claiming a hat-trick in the 4-0 win over CPD Llanuwchllyn last weekend.

Craig Lindfield – Bala Town

Although Craig Lindfield has only played four games for Bala Town this season, he has scored in all four games including a double in the 3-1 win over Rhyl 1879. The 37-year-old arrived at the club from Holywell Town during the summer and his experience of the league could be crucial for the Lakesiders this season.


Novira Cymru South

Manager of the Month

Jack Midwinter – Pure Swansea

An undefeated start to the season has moved Jack Midwinter’s Pure Swansea to the top of the Novira Cymru South heading into September. The newly promoted side have won four of their opening five games and are the top scorers in the league with 18 goals.

Matthew Driscoll – Pontypridd United

Pontypridd United have matched Pure Swansea with four wins from five this season, only dropping points when the two teams played out a dramatic 4-4 draw last weekend. Matthew Driscoll’s side have scored 16 goals already this season.

Craig Williams – Aberystwyth Town

Aberystwyth Town have also won for of their opening five games of the season with Craig Williams’ side claiming 5-2 and 5-1 victories over Afan Lido and Llantwit Major respectively. The side also scored four without reply against Llanelli Town last weekend.

Player of the Month

Liam Bishop – Caerau Ely

Despite mixed results in their opening fixtures, Liam Bishop has been in excellent form for Caerau Ely with five goals and three assists from six games. Bishop opened the scoring for his side in the recent 3-2 win against Treowen Stars and scored the goal that earned his side a point against Ynyshir Albions.

Ethan Edwards – Pontypridd United

The 23-year-old Ethan Edwards has been amongst the goals for Pontypridd United already this season. Edwards scored five goals in the opening four games of the campaign and contributed two assists in the 4-4 draw with Pure Swansea.

Casey Coughlin – Pure Swansea

An influential player for Pure Swansea already this season is 22-year-old Casey Coughlin who has scored six goals in just five games for his club. Coughlin most notably scored all three goals in the 3-0 win away to Baglan Dragons last month.

Daniel Ingram – Pure Swansea

Another youngster making a big impression on the Novira Cymru South this season, Daniel Ingram has been a key defensive figure for his side that has kept three clean sheets. Ingram also scored in the 4-4 draw against Pontypridd United and has provided four assists.
