Novira Cymru Leagues latest: Josh Williams returns as clubs enter final week of transfer window

All of the latest news from across the Novira Cymru Leagues with under a week until the 2026/27 summer transfer window closes.

NOVIRA CYMRU PREMIER

Josh Williams has returned to the Novira Cymru Premier with Colwyn Bay after completing a loan move from Tranmere Rovers until January 2027. Williams, 22, has been recovering from an ACL injury that has kept him sidelined since last year, and Rovers hope the spell will allow the former Nomads midfielder to build his match fitness. Williams joined Tranmere from Connah’s Quay Nomads in 2024.

Cardiff Met have added towering teenage centre-back Jack Hooper to their defensive ranks, with the 19-year-old joining the club on a long-term loan from Bristol City. “We’ve been tracking Jack for some time and have been really impressed with the development he’s made at Bristol City. He’s tall, athletic, very quick and dominant in the air, and we believe he has the potential to develop into a really top player. We’ve worked closely with Bristol City over a period of time to develop a strong partnership, so we’re delighted that this has now allowed us to bring Jack to Cardiff Met,” said a club statement.

The New Saints head coach Craig Harrison says that bringing back former academy product Rui Clarke-Phillips was a ‘no-brainer’ after the 18-year-old completed a return to Park Hall following an impressive pre-season trial. “Rui left Tranmere not so long ago, and we’d had really good reports on him, so he was unlucky not to get a contract there,” revealed Harrison. “He’s come in and done really well over pre-season, and still being eligible to occupy one of the under-19 spaces on the bench gives us extra flexibility within the squad too. But the main thing with Rui is his flexibility across positions, and his size, strength and athleticism.” Meanwhile, the club have also confirmed talented 18-year-old midfielder Brodie Summers has joined Gornal Athletic on a six-month loan.

NOVIRA CYMRU NORTH

Former Aston Villa and QPR academy goalkeeper La’Trell Jones has made the switch to Bala Town, following a brief spell with Aberystwyth Town. Jones initially arrived at Aber last February as injury cover for Kelland Absalom, making eight appearances last season. He had previously featured for NIFL Premiership side Coleraine.

Following his summer switch from Shrewsbury Town, The New Saints have loaned out 19-year-old left-back Issac Godwin to Bangor City 1876.

Rhyl 1879 continue to fine-tune their squad with the arrival of defender Jordan Brett from Kirkop Town, whilst Josh Lawrenson and Mo Ali have both left the Hops & Barley Community Stadium.

NOVIRA CYMRU SOUTH

Cardiff Dracs have moved to sign veteran marksman Luke Gullick, who arrives from Novira Cymru South rivals Caerau Ely.

“Gullick arrives with plenty of experience and joins us from Caerau Ely. He can play all across the forward line and is an excellent addition to our squad,” said a club statement.

The 39-year-old hit double figures last season, netting 10 goals, and previously had a notable spell with Pontypridd United alongside featuring for Trethomas Bluebirds, Chippenham Town, and Swindon Supermarine.

New Llanelli Town signing Nathan Crisan enjoyed a dream start after coming on for his debut and scoring within two minutes for his new side against Cardiff Draconians. The 19-year-old recently completed a switch to Stebonheath from Briton Ferry.

Pontypridd United have bolstered their attacking options with the signing of Jack Bevan from Llantwit Major. The 22-year-old scored 15 goals in 27 Novira Cymru South appearances last season. Bevan, who has also previously had spells at Trefelin, Port Talbot Town, and Pontyclun, will wear the number 29 shirt for his new side.

Experienced midfielder Simon Prangley has returned to Welsh football with Llantwit Major, ending a short spell with FC Westfields. Prangley is a familiar name amongst clubs in South Wales, listing Treowen Stars, Cwmbran Celtic, Goytre AFC, Cwmbran Town, Taffs Well, Chepstow Town, Afan Lido, and Caldicot Town amongst his former teams.
