Novira Cymru South round-up: Trethomas and Caerphilly share spoils in entertaining derby

Trethomas Bluebirds and Caerphilly Athletic extended their unbeaten runs in the Novira Cymru South to three matches after the local rivals played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the CCB Centre on Friday.

Trethomas opened the scoring in style on 44 minutes as Alex Newman-Jones picked out the bottom corner with a sweetly struck free-kick. However, Caerphilly were level just a minute later as Drew Perrett calmly converted from the penalty spot.

The match remained level up until the 78th minute, where Norton Ferreira scored his fifth goal in three games to put the hosts back in front. However, Perrett popped up with two minutes of normal time remaining with his second goal of the evening to salvage Caerphilly a hard-fought point.

Ferreira has matched his seven goal contributions from last season already

Toby Jones scored twice to send Baglan Dragons up to third in the table with a 2-1 victory over local rivals Afan Lido at Evans Bevans Playing Fields.

Jones completed his brace after just 29 minutes played as the forward took his tally to three goals for the season.

Veteran Jamie Baker scored his first Lido goal since returning to the club earlier in the summer, but the Dragons saw out the remainder of the match to make it four wins from their last five matches.
