Voting is now open for the 2022/23 JD Cymru North awards. You have until 12pm on Friday 12 May to select your Manager of the Season, Young Player of the Season and Player of the Season.
The winners will be announced alongside the Team of the Season on Saturday 20 May.
MANAGER OF THE SEASON
Mike Cunningham – Mold Alexandra
After being promoted from the Ardal North West last year, Mold Alexandra were never troubled by relegation worries back in the second tier. Mike Cunningham’s side won four of their first six matches and eventually finished in ninth place, 12 points clear of danger.
Steve Evans – Colwyn Bay
JD Cymru Premier football awaits for Colwyn Bay next season after an incredible campaign under the guidance of Steve Evans. The Seagulls scored 101 goals, lost just one league game and won 25 consecutive league matches between August and March on their way to the title.
Johnny Haseldin – Holywell Town
Colwyn Bay may have won the title, but Holywell Town had a superb season in their own right as they pushed the Seagulls all the way. Johnny Haseldin led his team to 25 wins in a row, while they had the best defence in the division – conceding only 22 goals in 30 matches.
YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Dan Atkins – Prestatyn Town
It has been an impressive debut season at Prestatyn Town for 21-year-old Dan Atkins, who finished as the joint top scorer in the JD Cymru North with 22 goals in 28 appearances. Four braces in the space of five games at the back end of 2022 was particularly impressive.
Tom Hilditch – Prestatyn Town
Atkins has not been alone in lighting up Prestatyn Town’s attack, as fellow summer signing Tom Hilditch has shone alongside him. The 22-year-old contributed 20 goals alongside 11 assists, registering a goal involvement in each of his last six matches to end the season on a high.
Matty Hill – Colwyn Bay
The man who provided the most goals on the way to Colwyn Bay’s title triumph, Matty Hill finished the season with a tally of 15 after signing from Ruthin Town last summer. The 22-year-old is nominated for this award for the second season in succession.
PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Danny Andrews – Holywell Town
Holywell Town’s captain throughout a glittering season, Danny Andrews continues to put in talismanic displays at 36 years old. The forward finished the campaign with nine goals and 11 assists in 26 league appearances.
Jake Cooke – Holywell Town
Following an inconsistent start to the season, Jake Cooke took the JD Cymru North by storm after the turn of the year with several lightening displays at full-back and on the wing. His hat-tricks against Guilsfield and Penrhyncoch were stunning and he finished the campaign with eight goals and eight assists.
Tom McCready – Colwyn Bay
Colwyn Bay skipper Tom McCready has led by example, becoming a combative influence at the base of the midfield and also chipping in with 11 league goals. It is no surprise that out of the three league games that Colwyn Bay dropped points in this season, McCready did not play in two of them.
