Voting is now open for the 2022/23 JD Cymru Premier awards. You have until 12pm on Friday 12 May to select your Manager of the Season, Young Player of the Season and Player of the Season.
The winners will be announced alongside the Team of the Season on Saturday 20 May.
MANAGER OF THE SEASON
Neil Gibson – Connah’s Quay Nomads
Appointed on Deeside just two days before the start of the season, Neil Gibson won 12 of his first 16 league games in charge of Connah’s Quay Nomads and eventually led them to a second-place finish – taking them back to Europe in the process.
Rhys Griffiths – Penybont
A 2-1 comeback win over Newtown on the final day of the season secured third place for Rhys Griffiths’ Penybont side – confirming their highest ever finish in the JD Cymru Premier and a spot in European competition for the first time in their history.
Craig Harrison – The New Saints
The most successful manager in The New Saints’ history, Craig Harrison returned to Park Hall last summer and guided them to the JD Cymru Premier title. His team finished 22 points ahead of second place after losing just one league game and scoring 112 goals.
YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Ben Clark – The New Saints
Ben Clark may have struggled with injury in phase two, but his performances in the first stage of the season still gave him some of the best numbers in the JD Cymru Premier. The 22-year-old finished the campaign with four assists and 13 goals – only four players scored more.
Ryan Reynolds – Penybont
His Hollywood namesake may have been making headlines in north Wales, but Penybont’s Ryan Reynolds was a consistently impressive performer in the south. The 22-year-old’s versatility was key in Bont qualifying for Europe, as he played across the midfield and in defence.
Josh Williams – Connah’s Quay Nomads
After making his first JD Cymru Premier start on the final day of last season, Josh Williams ended this campaign as an established figure in the Connah’s Quay Nomads side. The 18-year-old has caught the eye with his combative displays in midfield and earned a call up to the Cymru C squad.
PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Ryan Brobbel – The New Saints
No player was involved in more goals in phase one than Ryan Brobbel, who scored on 13 occasions and provided 15 assists. He added another two goals and four assists in phase two to end another productive campaign in The New Saints’ attack.
Declan McManus – The New Saints
The JD Cymru Premier’s golden boot winner for the second year in a row, Declan McManus ended the season on 29 league goals – a tally which included two hat-tricks. The Scot has established himself as one of the most clinical finishers that the top-flight has ever seen.
Nathan Wood – Penybont
The jewel in Penybont’s attack as they qualified for Europe for the first time, Nathan Wood was an ever-present for Bont throughout the campaign – appearing in all 32 matches, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists. His solo goal against Cardiff Met was simply magnificent.
