Cardiff City secure back-to-back Genero Adran Premier titles

Cardiff City clinched the Genero Adran Premier title for the second consecutive season with a 4-0 victory over Swansea City on Wednesday night.

Rhianne Oakley scored twice against her former club, with Eliza Collie and Molly Kehoe also finding the net on a night of torrential rain in the capital.

The Bluebirds ended their 10-year wait for the title when they went unbeaten throughout last season, but they have now won back-to-back top-flight crowns.

This time around they have secured top spot with two games to spare, having won 16 of their 18 matches so far. They have scored an impressive 57 goals and conceded just nine.

Now Iain Darbyshire’s side will have their sights set on a treble, as they have finals in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup and Genero Adran Trophy to look forward to.

“I am incredibly proud of all the players and staff, of all the hard work they have put in this year,” Darbyshire said after Wednesday night’s win.

“We have been really good across the whole season. We set out a goal a couple of years ago to start winning trophies and we are doing that at the moment. We’ve got to enjoy these really good times because they don’t come often.”

Defender Ffion Price added: “To win the title was fantastic but again, we’re not going to take it lightly, we still got two games to go and we want to win both.

“I think a lot of people don’t see the hard work that goes in for people with their jobs, the togetherness in the squad is fantastic and credit to all the girls, everyone put their shift in and today we got what we fully deserved.”
