While several matches were postponed last weekend, Genero Adran Leagues clubs will hope for more luck with the weather this Sunday. Here are the key games to watch.
Genero Adran Premier – Swansea City v Aberystwyth Town (Sunday, 2pm)
Swansea City will be eager to return to winning ways when they host struggling Aberystwyth Town in the Genero Adran Premier on Sunday afternoon.
The Swans conceded a stoppage time equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Barry Town United last Sunday, leaving them five points adrift of league leaders Cardiff City with a game in hand over the Bluebirds.
Aberystwyth have earned just one point from their opening seven league games of the campaign and are only above bottom of the table Cardiff Met by virtue of goal difference. However, the Seasiders have earned cup wins away at Llandudno and NFA in their last two matches so will hope to build on those results on their trip to south Wales.
Three of the four league meetings between the two sides last season finished level, including both encounters in Swansea. Sunday will be a return to Llandarcy for Aber boss Chris Church, who left the Swans at the end of last season after lifting the league title in 2022.
Meanwhile, Seasiders goalkeeper Chelsea Herbert also made the switch from Swansea in the summer and Swans full-back Emily Thomas is formerly of Aberystwyth.
Genero Adran North – Llandudno v Connah’s Quay Nomads (Sunday, 2pm)
Genero Adran North front runners Llandudno and Connah’s Quay Nomads meet for the first time in the league this season at the Go Goodwins Stadium.
The Nomads went three points clear at the top of the table last weekend as Aimee Redfern’s stoppage time goal secured a 3-2 victory over local rivals Flint Town United, making it four wins from four games in the league for Jordan Parry’s side this season.
Llandudno also have a perfect league record this term but have played one game less after their match against Felinheli last Sunday was abandoned at half-time due to a referee injury.
The two sides have already met twice in cup action this season, with the Nomads winning 2-1 in the Genero Adran Trophy group stage, before Llandudno gained revenge with a penalty shootout victory in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup.
Genero Adran South – Pontypridd United v Cascade (Sunday, 2pm)
Genero Adran South leaders Pontypridd United will hope to make it four wins from four league matches this season when they host Cascade on Sunday.
The Dragons are targeting an immediate return to the top-flight after relegation last season and they have made a strong start to the campaign, crucially beating title rivals Cwmbran Celtic 4-3 in their last league outing. A 3-0 Bute Energy Welsh Cup win over Johnstown a fortnight ago left them as the only second tier side remaining in the competition.
Cascade finished second in the Genero Adran South last season but have started to the new campaign with just one from their first three league matches to sit sixth in the table. However, they caused a shock in the Genero Adran Trophy by knocking out Cardiff Met in the last 16 and almost repeated the feat in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup as they led against Cardiff City before the Bluebirds staged a comeback to win 2-1.
The two sides last met in competitive action in the top-flight in May 2021, when Millie Jones came off the bench to score twice in a 3-0 win for Pontypridd.
