Cwmbran Celtic went three points clear at the top of the Genero Adran South with a 2-0 victory over Penybont at the SDM Glass Stadium on Sunday.
Jade Crofts scored for the third consecutive league match to give Celtic the lead after 20 minutes played, before they doubled their advantage in first half stoppage time thanks to a calmly converted penalty from Lauren Boyd. Both Celtic forwards are now on five goals each in the league this season.
Pontypridd United dropped points in the league for the first time this season as they suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Cascade.
Lauren Payne continued her bright form for the Dragons as she struck to give her side the lead inside four minutes, but a brace from Ellis Lunn completed a stunning turnaround for Cascade before half-time.
A goalless second half meant that Lunn’s double was enough to see Cascade climb up to fourth place with their first league win away from home this season. Ponty have slipped to second in the table.
Swansea University moved up to third in the table with a narrow 1-0 win away to Caldicot Town.
The decisive moment arrived with just three minutes on the clock as Ellie Raggett scored her first league goal for the club.
The remainder of the match was tightly contested, but it was that early strike from Raggett which was enough to give the Swans all three points and just their second league win away from home in 2024.
