Genero Adran North round-up: Connah’s Quay hit 10 as Ella Jones bags a double hat-trick

Connah’s Quay Nomads moved seven points clear at the top of the Genero Adran North with a convincing 10-0 victory over Berriew at Deeside Stadium on Sunday.

The Nomads immediately took control of the contest as Elana Harley met Phoebe Ellis’ corner and sent a looping header in off the crossbar for her first goal of the season before Polly Wild-McGregor latched onto Ellis’ through ball and slotted home to double the advantage after 19 minutes.

Wild-McGregor was fouled in the box shortly after the half hour mark, allowing Ella Jones to convert from the penalty spot. Jones scored twice more early in the second half to complete her hat-trick.

There was no let up from Jordan Parry’s side as Megan Galeandro curled home from distance just after the hour mark, while Jones tapped in from Wild-McGregor’s square ball to bag her fourth of the afternoon moments later – it is now the third time in four games that she has had a four-goal haul.

Jones finished the afternoon with six goals to her name after she brought down Hallie Billingsley’s long ball and finished past Ayesha Jones before netting her 17th league goal of the season. Galeandro ensured the Nomads reached double figures late in the day as she produced another sublime finish from distance to wrap up a fifth consecutive league win for the reigning champions.

Flint Town United failed to maintain pressure on the league leaders after they squandered a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw with Felinheli at Treborth.

Ruby Hastings and Rosie Hughes netted to put Flint two goals to the good after an hour played, but Llywela Edwards and Katie Midwinter netted within the space of 17 minutes to complete a late comeback and salvage a point.

Flint remain second in the table, but are now seven points adrift of leaders Connah’s Quay Nomads, while Felinheli remain in fifth-place after earning four points from as many games so far.
