Genero Adran North round-up | Connah’s Quay Nomads hit six to go seven points clear at the top

Connah’s Quay Nomads made it seven wins from seven games in the Genero Adran North this season as they triumphed 6-0 away at bottom-of-the-table NFA on Sunday.

A brace from Alisha Whitehead-Hughes inside the first five minutes gave the Nomads the perfect start, while it could it have been 3-0 after 10 minutes but Phoebe Ellis missed from the penalty spot.

Natasha Spearing scored her first league goal for the club four minutes before half-time, while Elana Harley came off the bench at the break to net twice in the space of four minutes to make it 5-0 after an hour played.

The scoring was rounded off by Ellis in the 62nd minute, who made amends for her earlier penalty miss by finding the net for the fourth time in six league games this season.

The Nomads are now seven points clear at the top of the table after second-place Llandudno dropped more key points in a 3-3 draw at home against Llanfair United.

The first half ended goalless at the Go Goodwins Stadium with the best chance falling to Seasiders captain Jasmin Dutton, who rattled the crossbar a minute before the break.

However, the floodgates opened in the second period, with an own goal from Llanfair skipper Mary Bailey and a first senior goal for 16-year-old substitute Anna Carey earning a 2-0 lead for Llandudno after 63 minutes.

Paris Schofield scored for the fourth consecutive league game to halve the deficit for Llanfair, but Dutton restored the two-goal advantage for the hosts with a free-kick in the 78th minute.

Llanfair refused to give in though and Schofield set up Harriet Davies to score just moments after Dutton’s strike, before the talented teenager grabbed her second goal of the afternoon with four minutes remaining to salvage a point for Lucie Gwilt’s side who remain third in the table – a point behind Llandudno with a game in hand.

Flint Town United won a third consecutive home game as they earned a 2-1 victory over Rhyl 1879 at the Essity Stadium.

All three goals were scored within the space of four minutes in the first half, with Shona Roberts finding the opener for Flint in the 23rd minute as she netted for the second consecutive game.

Lauren Jones found an instant equaliser for Rhyl, but Flint hit back straight away themselves as Jennifer Haynes scored first league goal of the campaign. Oli Williams’ side held firm for the rest of the contest to solidify fourth place in the table.

Rhyl’s defeat saw them slip to seventh after Bangor picked up a point in a 2-2 draw at home against Felinheli.

Ashleigh Jones continued to impress in her first season in Bangor colours as she netted the breakthrough in the 14th minute, which proved enough to earn the hosts the lead at the break.

However, Felinheli improved after the restart, with goals from Llywela Edwards and Jenna Tugwell-Allsup turning the contest around with 25 minutes remaining.

In response, Bangor brought on 2023/24 Genero Adran North Young Player of the Season Menna Evans for her first league appearance of the campaign after injury and the 18-year-old found an equaliser eight minutes later to see the contest end level.
