Genero Adran North round-up | Nomads put seven past reigning champions

Connah’s Quay Nomads took a step closer to the Genero Adran North title with an emphatic 7-1 home win over reigning champions Llandudno on Sunday.

The Nomads wasted no time at The Quay 3G and led 2-0 inside the first half an hour as Polly Wild-McGregor and former Seasider Ella Jones both found the net.

Angharad Jones netted her first league goal since October to get Llandudno on the scoresheet in the 38thminute, but Evie Chard’s close-range finish followed by Wild-McGregor’s second of the afternoon just a minute later put the Nomads 4-1 up at half-time.

Jones got her second goal nine minutes into the second half, while Elana Harley got in on the act on 68 minutes as she headed home from Phoebe Ellis’ corner at the front post. The scoring was rounded off with 10 minutes remaining as Wild-McGregor completed her hat-trick, taking her league tally this season to 15 in eight matches.

Defeat for Llandudno meant that Llanfair United leapfrogged them into second in the table with a 1-0 home win over Rhyl 1879.

The decisive moment at Mount Field came with 23 minutes on the clock as Harriet Davies scored her sixth goal in her last five matches from close range.

Rhyl pushed for an equaliser but were unable to find a way past Ffion Davies as Llanfair extended their unbeaten streak in the league to five matches. They are 11 points behind the Nomads with two games in hand.

Bangor earned back-to-back wins for the first time ever in the Genero Adran North as Menna Evans’ brace inspired a 4-0 victory away at bottom-of-the-table NFA.

Bangor took the lead in the 15th minute as Erin Burns headed home from Ffion Bee’s corner for her first league goal for the club, while Evans came off the bench at half-time and scored on the hour mark to double the lead.

The teenager got her second of the afternoon with five minutes left to play, before fellow substitute Cerys Parry wrapped up victory soon after with a deft finish past Courtney Ingram.

Three points for Bangor lifted them up to fifth in the table, above Flint Town United who suffered a 2-0 defeat to Felinheli at Cae Seilo.

Felin captain Kelly Jones put her side in front on 34 minutes after volleying home from Jordanne Greenough’s corner for her first league goal since March 2023.

A foul on Jenna Tugwell-Allsup inside the penalty area then allowed Catrin Evans to step up from the spot and double the advantage in first half stoppage time. Aaron Jones-Evans’ side saw out the remainder of the match to claim all three points and extend their unbeaten run to four matches.
