Genero Adran Premier round-up | Derby delight for Cardiff City while Wrexham hit seven

Cardiff City moved six points clear at the top of the Genero Adran Premier with a 1-0 victory over rivals Swansea City in the capital on Sunday.

After a goalless first half not without chances for both sides, the decisive moment came 10 minutes after the break when Lily Billingham received a through ball from Lisa Owen and clinically fired past Charlotte Haynes for her second league goal of the season.

It is now almost a whole year unbeaten on home turf for the Bluebirds, while a third defeat in four games for Swansea leaves them still needing one more win to seal a place in the top four.

There was nothing to separate second-place Briton Ferry Llansawel and third-place The New Saints in a dramatic 2-2 draw at Old Road.

Ferry took the lead in first half stoppage time as a foul from Helen Evans on Laura-May Walkley inside the area allowed Lucy Powell to convert from the penalty spot.

Walkley was sent off for a second bookable offence just before the hour mark, which swung the momentum of the game in TNS’ favour and Lexi Jones equalised with a looping effort inside the box on 70 minutes.

Jones grabbed her second of the afternoon to complete the turnaround 11 minutes later, as her through ball aimed for Chantelle Teare trickled past the outrushing Courtney Young.

That looked to have earned victory for Shauna Duffy’s side, but Ferry did not give in and equalised in the sixth minute of stoppage time when Megan Kearle raced on to Jess Denscombe’s long ball upfield and slotted past Rebecca Elliott to earn salvage a point for her side.

Wrexham claimed their biggest ever win in the Genero Adran Premier as Ava Suckley’s hat-trick inspired a 7-1 victory over Aberystwyth Town at The Rock.

After the hosts struck the post and the crossbar midway through the first half, they eventually found the breakthrough on 26 minutes when Carra Jones picked out the top corner with a looping effort from distance.

Suckley doubled the lead in the first half stoppage time with a superb strike from range, before Carys Bufton halved the deficit early in the second period on her first start for Aber since signing from Barry Town United.

Liv Fuller struck the crossbar soon after before finding the net on the hour mark after being played in by Abbie Iddenden. Rosie Hughes added a fourth goal from the penalty spot in the 72nd minute, before setting up Suckley for her second of the afternoon six minutes later.

There was time for two more late goals as Suckley hit another long range effort to complete hat-trick, before turning provider for Fuller to fire home in stoppage time.
