Genero Adran Premier round-up | Cardiff City hand Briton Ferry rare home defeat

Cardiff City moved eight points clear at the top of the Genero Adran Premier table with a 2-0 win over Briton Ferry Llansawel at The Renewable Centre Stadium on Sunday.

Ffion Price finished Phase One as the top scorer in the division with 10 goals and it did not take her long to start Phase Two in the same form as her in-swinging corner stunningly flew over everyone and into the back of the net inside 15 minutes.

A corner from the full-back also led to Cardiff’s second goal 10 minutes later as her delivery was met by Shannon Evans who headed against the crossbar, with Mackenzie Olden on hand to finish the rebound from close range.

Ferry failed to find the scoresheet for only the third time this season – although substitute Jade Crofts saw her effort cleared off the line by Evans late on – as the Bluebirds became the first away team to win a league game at Old Road in almost four years.

In the bottom half, Aberystwyth Town moved six points clear of the relegation zone with a crucial 2-1 comeback victory over bottom-of-the-table Cardiff Met at Cyncoed Campus.

Teenager Beca Thomas picked out the bottom corner with a fierce strike to give Met the lead with 34 minutes on the clock, as the Archers went in search of their first win of the season.

Jess Baker was introduced for Aberystwyth at half-time and in the 64th minute she played in Lleucu Mathias, who kept her composure to slot past Charlotte Smith for her second league goal of the campaign.

With the points set to be shared, the Seasiders snatched victory in the 86th minute when Imi Scourfield took aim from 30 yards and superbly found the top corner. With a six-point gap to make up in five games, Met need an urgent turnaround in form.

Wrexham continued the impressive form that earned them a last-gasp spot in the top half, triumphing 3-1 against The New Saints at The Rock.

Ava Suckley put Wrexham in front in the 25th minute with a clinical finish from a tight angle, before doubling the lead just two minutes later by dispossessing TNS goalkeeper Mackenzie Haydn-Jones and tapping into an empty net for her seventh goal in five games.

Molly Havard halved the deficit for the Saints with a neat finish from Grace Dunkerley’s cross shortly before half time, but Carra Jones’ stunning strike from out wide early in the second period restored Wrexham’s two-goal cushion and ultimately secured a fifth straight win in all competitions for Steve Dale’s side who are now just two points behind TNS in the table.

Swansea City and Barry Town United began their Phase Two campaigns with a goalless draw at Llandarcy.

End product proved costly for both teams as Swans skipper Katy Hosford saw two efforts fly over the bar, while Barry forwards Ingrid Ã…dland and Jas Turner both fired narrowly wide of the target. The Swans remain four points clear of Barry at the top of the Plate Conference.
