Genero Adran Premier round-up | Cardiff City hit six on stadium return

Genero Adran Premier leaders Cardiff City marked their return to the Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday evening with an emphatic 6-1 victory over Barry Town United.

The Bluebirds made an electric start to the game as Danielle Green unleashed a superb effort inside 90 seconds before caption Siobhan Walsh headed home a second in the ninth minute. However, Barry grew into the game and halved the deficit on 24 minutes when Hana Bennett arrowed a stunning long-range strike past Ceryn Chamberlain.

Not to be outdone, Seren Watkins scored from distance herself just three minutes after half-time and Cardiff did not look back from there. Molly Kehoe, Eliza Collie and Tija Richardson all added their names to the scoresheet before the end of the game in front of a 1,092 crowd.

Swansea City went second in the table with a 4-0 victory away at Aberystwyth Town – their fourth consecutive win under interim boss Chris Church.

Captain Katy Hosford was the star of the show at Park Avenue with two goals and two assists. She turned the ball home from close range on two occasions and turned provider for Jess Williams and substitute Monet Legall. Next up for the Swans is an enticing home fixture against Cardiff City.

Wrexham continued to keep pace at the top of the table by earning their first home league win of the season in a 3-1 triumph over The New Saints.

Summer signing Carra Jones scored her first league goal for the club from close range in the 22nd minute, before Rosie Hughes doubled the lead early in the second half – her 100th goal in just 46 games for Wrexham.

Jones made sure of the win with her second of the game in the 69th minute, while a late Helen Evans free-kick from distance denied the hosts a clean sheet.

Cardiff Met claimed their second win of the campaign by narrowly defeating Pontypridd United 1-0 at Cyncoed Campus.

The only goal of the game came in the sixth minute when Dragons defender Shannon Greenway turned the ball into her own net.
