Genero Adran Premier round-up | Ffion Price hat-trick inspires Cardiff City comeback

Cardiff City climbed to the top of the Genero Adran Premier table with a 4-2 comeback victory over Aberystwyth Town on Sunday, inspired by Ffion Price’s hat-trick.

The champions were left stunned as they conceded twice late in the first half – a sublime free-kick from Lleucu Mathias and a clinical finish from Rebecca Mathias – to find themselves 2-0 down at the break.

Price got the Bluebirds on the comeback trail in the 61st minute and then found an equaliser with 11 minutes left on the clock with a superb finish into the bottom corner. The turnaround, and Price’s hat-trick, was complete in the 89th minute when her free-kick from out wide sailed over a number of bodies and Aber goalkeeper Mia Gleave.

City substitute Fiona Barry wrapped up the victory in stoppage time with her second league goal of the season.

Wrexham earned only their second league win of the campaign as they triumphed 3-0 over Cardiff Met at The Rock.

Abbie Iddenden added to her brace in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup last weekend with a well-taken finish to open the scoring midway through the first half.

Iddenden turned provider for Rosie Hughes to slot past Charlotte Smith early in the second half, while Liv Fuller sealed the victory with a simple finish at the back post in the 87th minute.

The New Saints and Barry Town United extended their respective unbeaten runs in a 1-1 draw at Park Hall.

Both goals came in the opening 10 minutes, with TNS taking the lead through teenager Lexi Jones who poked home from Maria Francis-Jones’ low cross.

Barry’s instant response came from Ellie Preece, who capitalised on a defensive mistake from Tiggy Webb to score for the fourth consecutive league game.

TNS came close to restoring their lead when Francis-Jones’ fierce strike from inside the area rattled the crossbar shortly before the half hour mark, but that was the closest either side came to finding a winning goal.
