Genero Adran Premier round-up | Stoppage-time winner sends The New Saints top

The New Saints climbed to the top of the Genero Adran Premier as Lexi Jones’ stoppage-time goal secured a 1-0 home win over Swansea City on Sunday.

With Cardiff City not in action, TNS knew that victory at Park Hall would take them to the summit of the standings but the game remained goalless with 90 minutes on the clock – despite a first half injury to Swansea goalkeeper Charlotte Haynes forcing defender Nia Jones to go in between the sticks for over an hour.

However, in the first minute of stoppage time, Chantelle Teare’s shot deflected into the path of Saints substitute Jones, who fired superbly into the top corner to earn the hosts a memorable victory – their seventh in a row in all competitions.

Shauna Duffy’s side are now one point ahead of Cardiff at the top of the table, but the reigning champions have a game in hand. Swansea remain in third place, six points behind TNS with a game in hand.

Wrexham won for the first time in three league games as Liv Fuller’s late strike earned a thrilling 4-3 victory over Barry Town United at The Rock.

Wrexham, who also beat Barry in last weekend’s Genero Adran Trophy quarter-final, broke the deadlock with just three minutes on the clock when Phoebe Davies capitalised on a defensive error to score her first ever league goal for Wrexham.

That remained the difference between the two sides at half-time but Erin Murray’s close-range volley got Barry back on level terms three minutes into the second half. However, Wrexham responded immediately as quickfire goals from Fuller and Ava Suckley made it 3-1 just before the hour mark.

Barry were not giving in though and hauled themselves back level again through close-range finishes from Amy Long and Ellie Preece.

With the points looking set to be shared, Fuller popped up at the back post in the 90th minute to tap in Rosie Hughes’ pass and earn a crucial three points for her side.
