Genero Adran Premier round-up | Wrexham and Swansea play out opening day thriller

Wrexham marked their Genero Adran Premier debut with a thrilling 3-3 draw against six-time champions Swansea City on the opening weekend of the 2023/24 season.

The Red Dragons led 2-0 through Rebecca Pritchard’s precise strike and Rosie Hughes’ first time finish, but the Swans drew level with two goals in nine minutes from Robyn Pinder and Chloe Chivers.

Wrexham’s summer signing Hannah Keryakoplis looked to have won the game when she sparked wild celebrations by netting in the 88th minute, but Swansea captain Katy Hosford grabbed a stoppage time equaliser to earn a point for her side.

Champions Cardiff City began their defence of the Genero Adran Premier title with a 3-1 victory against Cardiff Met at Cyncoed Campus.

Archers debutant Ingrid Ă…dland cancelled out Megan Bowen’s opener before Rhianne Oakley put the Bluebirds back in front on the stroke of half-time, while Bowen added her second of the game in second half stoppage time.

Aberystwyth Town are top of the embryonic league table following a 3-0 home win over Barry Town United.

The Seasiders proved that age is just a number as all three goals were scored by 15-year-old debutants in the first half at Park Avenue. Lily Moralee-Hughes netted a brace and Lleucu Mathias scored the other.

The New Saints beat Pontypridd United to a top half spot last season and they began the new campaign by triumphing 3-1 against the Dragons at USW Sports Park.

Dani Staley’s close range finish earned Greg Draper’s side a half-time lead and Izzy Redding doubled the advantage with a header. Pontypridd threatened a comeback when Carys Bufton scored from distance, but Caitlin Chapman wrapped up the three points for TNS in stoppage time.
