Genero Adran South | Weekend preview

Briton Ferry Llansawel and Llanelli Town meet again in the Genero Adran South a week after Ferry triumphed 6-0 in the reverse fixture.

Victory at Stebonheath was an eighth win in eight games for Rhys James’ side in the league this season and took them five points clear at the top of the table.

In contrast, it was a third consecutive league defeat for Llanelli – a run of form that has seen them slip to fifth in the Genero Adran South table.

Their last trip to Old Road ended in a 9-1 defeat in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup last season when Jess Denscombe starred with four goals.

There will also be a case of déjà vu in Ystrad Mynach, as Cascade and Cwmbran Celtic meet again after their SWFA Cup encounter last weekend when the hosts progressed on penalties following a 3-3 draw in 90 minutes.

In the league, the two sides are separated by five points – with Cascade in second place having a played one game more than third-place Celtic.

Cascade have recorded back-to-back league wins against Llanelli Town and Pontardawe Town, while Celtic are unbeaten in their last four league matches as they continue to impressive in their first season in the Genero Adran South

Besides last weekend’s cup win, Cascade have triumphed over Celtic twice more this season with a 4-0 victory in the Genero Adran Trophy group stage and a narrow 2-1 win in the reverse league fixture.

Fourth-place Swansea University will continue to go in search of their first win of 2024 when they host Caldicot Town.

Dan Sheehan’s side drew back-to-back games against Cascade and Cwmbran Celtic before defeat to Briton Ferry in January, but those three games were all away so they will be pleased to be back on home turf.

Meanwhile, sixth-place Caldicot will aiming to build on their first league win of the season in their last outing as they triumphed 4-2 over Pontardawe Town last month.

Nothing could separate these two teams in their last meeting as they played out a goalless draw at Jubilee Way in October.
