Connah’s Quay Nomads were the biggest winners in the opening round of matches in the Genero Adran Trophy, triumphing 6-0 away at NFA in North Group 1. There was a hat-trick for Shannon Hobbs and a brace for Phoebe Ellis, along with a first goal in 11 months for Amber Bailey.
There was also a hat-trick North Group 1’s other game, as Sade Benjamin bagged a treble in Rhyl 1879’s 6-2 victory over Llanfair United. Captain Rachael Thomas also scored and contributed four assists, while there was one goal each for Llio Davies and Alicia Duke.
Felinheli also claimed a 6-2 win as they overcame Airbus UK Broughton in North Group 2. Catrin Evans and summer signing Jenna Allsup both scored a brace alongside one each for Fflur Williams and Kelly Jones.
Llandudno were 1-0 winners over Bangor in North Group 2’s other fixture. Stevie Donougher scored the only goal against her former club – her ninth in the space of a week following five goals on the opening weekend of the Genero Adran North campaign and a hat-trick in the NWCFA Cup on Wednesday.
Briton Ferry Llansawel continued their strong start to the season with a 4-0 home win over Swansea University in South Group 1. Molly Jones opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time before Alison Witts’ penalty just after the hour mark, while Manon Thomas and Witts both scored in stoppage time to wrap up the result.
Cascade were also 4-0 winners in South Group 1 as they triumphed away at Cwmbran Celtic. Erin Parry broke the deadlock after just six minutes before Molly Chapman scored a hat-trick to down the newly-promoted Genero Adran South side.
Pontardawe Town went top of South Group 2 with a 4-2 home win over Caldicot Town. The visitors led early on through Jess Bessell, but Ponty turned the game around through a Renee Day brace and one each for Catryn Cook and Sara Llewelyn before Lucy McDonough’s late consolation.
In South Group 2’s other match, Coed Duon held on to earn a 2-1 victory over Llanelli Town. After a goalless first half, a Katie Williams penalty and a screamer from substitute Sian Rees put the Dragons in front before Llanelli threatened a comeback when substitute Betsan Morgan found the net.
