Genero Adran Trophy round-up | Llandudno and Pontardawe Town progress to knockout stage

Connah’s Quay Nomads continued their strong start to the season with an emphatic 8-0 win away at Rhyl in the Genero Adran Trophy group stage. 

Elana Harley was the star of the show at Belle Vue as she netted four of the goals, while Phoebe Ellis and captain Shannon Hobbs both grabbed a brace each.  

The other fixture in North Group 1 between Llanfair United and NFA was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. A new date for the game will be confirmed in due course. 

Llandudno booked their spot in the knockout stage with a 5-0 victory away at Felinheli in North Group 2. 

The Seasiders led by four at half-time as Stevie Donougher scored a brace alongside one each for Maddie Williams and Erin Doran, while substitute Kelsey Davies got in on the act after the break. Llandudno goalkeeper Caitlyn Bibby-Fry was also on form as she saved a penalty. 

Meanwhile, a 1-1 draw saw Airbus UK Broughton and Bangor earn their first point each in North Group 2. The Wingmakers took the lead on the hour mark through Meleri Jones, but Menna Evans equalised for Bangor just before half-time. 

Briton Ferry hit double figures for goals in a single game for the second time this season as they thrashed Cwmbran Celtic 10-0 in South Group 1. 

Alison Witts scored her second hat-trick of the campaign, there were two goals each for Lowri Baker and Jess Denscombe, while Laura-May Walkley, Fleur Jenkins and Lowri Ridings all found the net too. 

The other fixture in South Group 1 took place on Thursday night, with Swansea University winning 3-2 away at Cascade thanks to three goals in the space of 10 minutes in the second half.

Pontardawe Town progressed to the knockout stage with a 5-2 win against Coed Duon in South Group 2. Keira Harris starred with four goals, while Renee Day got the other from the penalty spot. Rianne Jones netted both of the Dragons’ goals. 

The other game in South Group 2 saw Caldicot Town and Llanelli Town draw 1-1 at Jubilee Way. The Reds had a half-time lead through Nikola Kujawska, but Lara Gait equalised for Caldicot from the penalty spot just after the hour mark.
