JD Cymru North round-up | Late drama sees Mold Alexandra earn third straight win

Airbus UK Broughton produced an impressive second half display to overcome Bangor 1876 4-0 at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium to remain top of the JD Cymru North table. .

The two in-form teams were deadlocked at 0-0 up until the hour mark when Jordan Evans capitalized on a defensive mistake to slot beyond Carl Jones.

Wingmakers boss Mark Allen used his bench to perfection as substitutes Dan Collins, Craig Lindfield and Brad Knight all got their names on the scoresheet later in the half to stretch the leaders’ unbeaten streak in the league to 11 games.

Second-place Flint Town continue to pile on the pressure at the top and remaining just a point behind Airbus following a 3-0 win over Buckley Town in a Flintshire derby at Deeside Stadium.

Quickfire goals from Josh Jones and Elliott Reeves had Flint in a comfortable position at half-time, while their quality continued into the second half as Jones completed his brace in the 56th minute.

Lee Fowler’s side remain the only unbeaten side in this season’s JD Cymru North, but a third successive defeat for Buckley leaves them still in the relegation zone, two points adrift of safety.

The Bucks’ fellow strugglers Llanidloes Town and Prestatyn Town played out a tense 1-1 draw at Victoria Park on Saturday.

Adam Morton headed home from James Smallwood’s corner to give the home side a crucial lead on the stroke of half-time, but just moments later they were reduced to ten men as Ryan Biggs received a straight red card for a challenge on Mike Burke.

Prestatyn threatened early in the second half, but Charlie McMahon’s dismissal for a second yellow card shortly after the hour mark meant it would be 10v10 for the remainder of the game.

Luckily for the Seasiders, Mike Burke popped up with a 25-yard rocket into the top corner in the 70th minute to salvage a much-needed point for Prestatyn, who remain in 13th place. Llanidloes still sit in the relegation zone on six points with just one win to their name this term.

Title challengers Holywell Town made it a third consecutive away victory with a comfortable 2-0 win at bottom of the table Chirk AAA.

A narrow, goalless first half ended in frustration for the Colliers as Adam Williams received a straight red card but it was not until the final 15 minutes that the Wellmen finally broke their resistance.

New signing Jamie Breese slotted past Ollie Farebrother twice in three minutes to begin his Holywell career in emphatic style.

Soulayman El Amri’s hat-trick inspired Ruthin Town to a 3-2 victory over Porthmadog at Y Traeth on Saturday afternoon.

A crazy opening 20 minutes saw the Italian attacker give Ruthin a two-goal lead before Danny Brookwell pulled a goal back for Port.

A defensive mistake allowed El-Amri to complete his hat-trick and restore Ruthin’s two goal cushion by calmly slotting past the onrushing Alex Ward-Jones in the 77th minute. Nathan Williams headed in Porthmadog’s second of the afternoon five minutes later, but the hosts could not find a late equaliser.

Substitute Joe Ormrod’s dramatic stoppage-time strike earned Mold Alexandra a 2-1 victory away to Llandudno at the OPS Wind Arena.

Both sides found the net at the beginning of the second half with Danny Warren’s opener being cancelled out by Llandudno’s youngster Harvey Bennett, who bagged his third goal in four league games.

However, four minutes into stoppage time, a curling delivery was turned home by Ormrod for his first league of the season, sending the entire Mold bench into raptures as they secured a third consecutive victory.
