The New Saints to host Arbroath in SPFL Trust Trophy quarter-finals

The New Saints have been drawn at home against Arbroath in the quarter-finals of the SPFL Trust Trophy.

The JD Cymru Premier champions are involved at this stage of the competition for the first time since 2017/18 when they went on to reach the semi-finals.

The tie is due to be played on the weekend of November 18/19 and the winner has been drawn to meet the winner of the tie between Falkirk and Dundee United in the semi-finals.

Arbroath are currently fourth in the Scottish Championship, the second tier of Scottish football. Managed by Dick Campbell, they have knocked out Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Queen of the South from the SPFL Trust Trophy so far this season.

The New Saints needed a penalty shootout to progress past East Fife in round four last weekend following a 2-2 draw in normal time.

Brad Young gave them an early lead at Park Hall, but goals from Alan Trouten and Connor McManus turned the game around for the visitors before Ryan Brobbel converted a penalty to send the game to a shootout.

After TNS scored all of their five spot-kicks and East Fife scored their first four, Connor Roberts emerged as the hero by saving Kieran Mitchell’s effort to send Craig Harrison’s side through.
