JD Cymru Premier round-up | Three unbeaten records fall on matchday five

Haverfordwest County earned their first JD Cymru Premier win of the season and continued their streak as late goal specialists by triumphing 2-1 away at Colwyn Bay on Saturday afternoon.

The Seagulls took the lead through Matty Hill early in the second half, but Kai Whitmore equalised on 70 minutes before fellow Bluebirds summer signing Martell Taylor-Crossdale provided the winning goal with just three minutes of normal time remaining.

League leaders The New Saints earned their biggest win of the season so far by thrashing Aberystwyth Town 6-0 on Friday night.

Jake Canavan netted twice against the side he spent time on loan at last season, while Ben Clark, Adrian Cieslewicz, Ryan Astles and substitute Rory Holden also got on the scoresheet.

Bala Town moved second in the table on Saturday with a 2-1 victory over Penybont, who lost for the first time in the league this term.

George Newell’s header and Naim Arsan’s pinpoint free-kick gave the Lakesiders a two-goal lead at half-time, while Mael Davies’ composed finish just before the hour mark could not inspire a Bont comeback.

Caernarfon Town suffered their first JD Cymru Premier defeat of the campaign as Connah’s Quay Nomads produced an impressive performance to win 4-0 at The Oval on Friday.

Former Cofis Jack Kenny and Noah Edwards both found the net alongside Declan Poole and Jordan Davies as the Nomads achieved back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

Newtown claimed their first win of the season by triumphing 2-1 over a previously unbeaten Cardiff Met side at Latham Park on Friday.

Ryan Sears and Aaron Williams put the Robins two goals up after 31 minutes and while CJ Craven pulled one back for the Archers before half-time, Ryan Jenkins’ team could not find an equaliser.

Pontypridd United achieved a third consecutive clean sheet and made it back-to-back wins by beating Barry Town United 1-0 at USW Sports Park on Friday.

The decisive moment came in the 19th minute when Curtis Hutson was fouled in the box by Callum Sainty and Ben Ahmun coolly converted the resulting penalty.
