Flint Town United defender Alec Mudimu has been selected in the Zimbabwe squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
It is a return to the international fold for the 30-year-old, who had retired from representing his nation at the start of this year having won the most recent of his 26 caps in November 2021.
However, he accepted new head coach Mario Marinic’s invitation of a call-up to the AFCON preliminary squad and subsequent training camp over the last two weeks.
This will be a third AFCON for Mudimu, who was also selected in Zimbabwe’s squad for the tournament in 2019 – while playing for Cefn Druids – and 2022.
The defender, who also previously played for Caernarfon Town, joined Flint for a third spell in the summer and has made 13 appearances in the JD Cymru Premier this season – scoring once.
Zimbabwe begin the AFCON group stage against Mohamed Salah’s Egypt on 22 December, before also facing Angola (26 December) and South Africa (29 December).
