Phase One concludes in the JD Cymru Premier on Friday night, while there are crucial clashes across the weekend in the second tier too. Here are the key games to keep an eye on.
JD Cymru Premier – Barry Town United v Llanelli Town (Friday, 7:45pm)
Barry Town United will hope to confirm their place in this season’s JD Cymru Premier Championship Conference when they host Llanelli Town at Jenner Park on Friday night.
The Linnets are currently sixth in the table, sitting above seventh-place Cardiff Met only on goal difference ahead of the final round of Phase One matches. It means that they must at least equal the Archers’ result away at Penybont if they to secure a top half spot for the first time in five years.
Barry Town United v Llanelli Town
Barry have already missed opportunities to seal a place in the top six, suffering back-to-back defeats on the road at Briton Ferry Llansawel (2-1) and Connah’s Quay Nomads (3-1) either side of the new year. However, Steve Jenkins’ side are unbeaten in their last five home matches in all competitions, with four consecutive clean sheets during that time.
Bottom-of-the-table Llanelli are winless in their last 11 league matches and sit 13 points adrift of safety. The Reds did show signs of improvement in a narrow 1-0 loss to Penybont on New Year’s Day, so will be hoping to head into Phase Two with a positive result.
Barry have already beaten Llanelli three times this season, with a 2-0 win on the opening day of the league campaign before 1-0 and 6-0 victories in the Nathaniel MG Cup and JD Welsh Cup respectively. Forward Ieuan Owen has bagged goals in all three matches.

JD Cymru Premier – Flint Town United v Bala Town (Friday, 7:45pm)
Crucial points are up for grabs at the bottom of the JD Cymru Premier table as 10th-place Flint Town United host 11th-place Bala Town at the Essity Stadium on Friday.
Flint are just one point above their opponents in the table and have become harder to beat in recent weeks, losing just one of their last seven matches in all competitions. Harry Owen’s stoppage time header secured an impressive 2-1 win away at Colwyn Bay on New Year’s Day – the Silkmen’s first league victory since October.

Flint’s victory at Bay saw Bala slip into the relegation zone, before the Lakesiders were narrowly beaten 2-1 by league leaders The New Saints on Tuesday night. It was a fifth defeat in six games of Steve Fisher’s side, who have picked up just five points from their last 12 matches.
The two sides played out a 1-1 draw in their last meeting on the opening weekend of the season, as Flint midfielder Ben Wynne cancelled out Hussein Mehasseb’s opener for Bala. The Lakesiders are unbeaten in their last 11 league matches against the Silkmen, a record spanning back to October 2020.
JD Cymru North – Gresford Athletic v Penrhyncoch (Saturday, 2pm)
The JD Cymru North bottom two face off on Saturday as Gresford Athletic host Penrhyncoch at The Hollingsworth Group Stadium.
Captain Paul Johnson scored a stoppage time winner as Gresford triumphed 3-2 away at Denbigh Town on New Year’s Day, their first league win in 11 league matches since the start of September. The result saw the Colliers leapfrog Penrhyncoch in the table and they are now two points above the relegation zone.

However, the Roosters do have a game in hand and ended 2025 on a four-match unbeaten streak – including wins over top half sides Buckley Town and Guilsfield. Dan Owen’s goal in the 1-1 draw against Ruthin Town on New Year’s Eve was his fifth in his last four matches.
Gresford came from two goals down to earn a thrilling 4-2 victory over Penrhyncoch in the first meeting between the two sides last season before they played out a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture.
JD Cymru North – Newtown v Llandudno (Saturday, 2:30pm)
JD Cymru North leaders Llandudno will aim to bounce back from their first defeat of the campaign when they travel to fourth-place Newtown on Saturday.
Newtown have picked up just two points from their last five league games and find themselves six points behind the promotion spots following back-to-back defeats to Airbus UK Broughton and Caersws over the festive period. The Robins cannot afford too many more dropped points if they are to make an immediate return to the JD Cymru Premier.

Llandudno suffered their first league defeat of the campaign as they were beaten 3-1 away at Rhyl 1879 on New Year’s Day. The Seasiders are still four points clear at the top of the table though, while they have a game in hand over second-place Holywell.
The two sides have already met three times this season, with Newtown triumphing on penalties in the Welsh Blood Service League Cup, before Llandudno secured 2-0 and 6-3 wins in the league and Nathaniel MG Cup respectively.

JD Cymru South – Pontypridd United v Ammanford (Friday, 7:30pm)
Promotion-chasing Ammanford are hoping to extend their unbeaten run in the JD Cymru South to 10 matches when they visit USW Sports Park to face Pontypridd United on Friday night.
Ammanford are currently third in the table and have only lost once in the league this season. Wyn Thomas’ side made it three straight wins and clean sheets by triumphing 2-0 at home against Ynyshir Albions last weekend, meaning they are now four points clear of fourth-place Caerau Ely – although the Young Guns do have a game in hand.

Pontypridd are still searching for their first points under new manager Matt Driscoll after conceding late goals in consecutive 1-0 defeats to Aberystwyth Town and Cambrian United over the festive period. The Dragons are 12th in the table and have only won four league matches this season, but they are a healthy 12 points clear of the relegation zone.
Ponty had won five consecutive games against Ammanford before a 1-1 draw between the two sides in September, when Gavin Jones scored a late equaliser for the Carmarthenshire outfit.
