JD Cymru North leaders Airbus UK Broughton produced one of their most impressive displays of the season to triumph 8-3 over reigning champions Holywell Town at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium on Friday night.
The Wingmakers made a remarkable start to the game as headers from Nathan Williams and Danny Warren either side of a composed finish from George Peers earned them a 3-0 lead after just 12 minutes.
Holywell forward Mark Winslade pulled a goal back for his side in the 39th minute, but Peers fired home in the midst of a goalmouth scramble to restore Airbus’ three-goal cushion in first half stoppage time. Peers completed his hat-trick four minutes into the second half with another clinical finish, before substitute James Davies made it 6-1 after being on the pitch for just six minutes.
Holywell were not giving up though, with Jamie Breese and Winslade finding the net within four minutes of each other, but Michael Pearson’s straight red card for a foul on Peers in the box made the visitors’ task significantly more difficult. Peers blazed over the resulting penalty, before Holywell missed a spot kick of their own two minutes later when Breese’s effort from 12 yards was saved by Keighan Jones.
Peers eventually grabbed his fourth of the evening and Airbus’ seventh as he tapped home from Ollie Lanceley’s low cross in the 75th minute, before Davies wrapped up the win with a one-on-one finish late on.

There was also another action-packed Flintshire Derby at the Essity Stadium on Friday as Liam Driscoll’s stoppage time goal earned Buckley Town a 4-3 win away at Flint Mountain.
Mountain took the lead inside just eight minutes as Danny Burgess turned Mike Hayes’ low cross into his own net, but goalkeeper Reece Thompson gifted Driscoll an equaliser before Scott McHarrie put Buckley ahead shortly after the half hour mark.
Hayes levelled the contest again on the stroke of half-time as he headed in Rob Hughes’ cross at the back post and Mountain edged back in front early in the second half when Hughes scored from the penalty spot.
Buckley have not been a side to back down this season and they levelled once more on the hour mark through Adam Smith’s edge of the box effort. The winner then arrived in the seventh minute of stoppage time as Driscoll scored his second of the night. A straight red card for captain Callum Humphries soon after did not dampen the Bucks’ spirits.
Second-place Colwyn Bay made it eight league wins in a row with a comfortable 7-0 victory at home against Prestatyn Town on Friday night.
Jamie Cumming opened the scoring with just five minutes on the clock, while Gwion Dafydd doubled the lead shortly before the half hour mark with a beautifully curled first time effort past Rob Williams for his eighth goal in four league matches.
Bay forward Dan Atkins haunted his former club as he scored a quickfire brace in first half stoppage time to make it 4-0 at the break, before arguably the most impressive goal of the night came from youngster Josh Carey who picked out the top corner with a strike from distance in the 66th minute.
The Seagulls, who remain four points behind league leaders Airbus, put the game to bed in the final 10 minutes as substitutes Lloyd Marsh-Hughes and Ryan Kehoe both tapped home from inside the six yard box.
Denbigh Town earned a third win in four league matches by triumphing 6-2 against Llandudno at Central Park on Friday.
Ben Lockley’s third-minute opener for the hosts was cancelled out by Harvey Bennett, but Keelan Williams and Nathan Brown scored in the final 10 minutes of the first half to put Denbigh back in control.
17-year-old Levi Montgomery came off the bench to make his Llandudno debut and found the net in the 55thminute, but Brown and Williams both scored again to put Denbigh 5-2 ahead with 16 minutes remaining.
Llandudno’s woes increased when Cai Roberts was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 84th minute, before 16-year-old Tom Salisbury wrapped up the win for Denbigh in stoppage time with his first senior goal for the club.
Jord Scott’s first match in charge of Llay Miners Welfare ended in a 4-2 defeat at home to Mold Alexandra on Saturday afternoon.
A brace from Damase Kiwanda inside the opening 18 minutes got things rolling for the Alex, before Owen Cordiner fired home from close range to make it three and bag his first goal since August. The visitors put the game to bed just after the hour mark with a composed finish across goal from Fabrizio Murtas.
Scott Swords pulled a goal back for Llay five minutes later, but a straight red card for Max Peate ultimately ended their hopes of a comeback. Teenage substitute Ethan Simpson reduced the deficit further in stoppage time, but it was simply too little too late.
Ruthin Town secured back-to-back league wins for the first time this season as they triumphed 2-0 over Guilsfield at Maes Tegid on Saturday.
Jake Hughes-Hampson’s goal shortly before the half-hour mark remained the difference for the majority of the match, but substitute Liam Ellis eventually sealed victory for Ruthin in stoppage time with his first goal in almost a year.
Gresford Athletic and Penrhyncoch both moved a point further away from the relegation zone after playing out a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon.
Colliers midfielder Simon Smith curled the ball into the top corner to open the scoring early in the second half, but Geoff Kellaway popped up in the 81st minute to salvage a draw for the Roosters.
Caersws extended their unbeaten run to six matches in all competitions with a goalless draw at home to Bangor 1876 on Saturday afternoon.
Both backlines were on top form in Powys as there was just one shot on target registered for either side. The result leaves Bangor and Caersws in seventh and eighth place respectively, separated by two points.
