Colwyn Bay maintained their two-point lead at the top of the JD Cymru North with a 3-2 home win over Guilsfield on Saturday.
Bay wasted no time in securing their 10th consecutive home win as Dan Atkins headed home Joe Williams’ cross after just two minutes played. Sol Forde nodded in from close range to double the lead on 17 minutes, before Craig Lindfield produced a deft lob over Luke Evans to make it 3-0 just before the half hour mark.
That early blitz proved enough to secure victory for the Seagulls, but they had to survive a late scare as Jamie Hyne pulled a goal back for Guilsfield on 75 minutes before Joe Haycock netted deep into stoppage time.
Three points were vital for Michael Wilde’s after second-place Airbus UK Broughton had won 2-0 away at Prestatyn Town on Friday night.
George Peers opened the scoring in the 21st minute when he tucked home a loose ball in the box and almost doubled the advantage seven minutes into the second half but his glancing header struck the post.
Peers was not to be denied again however, as he did grab his second of the night on 65 minutes by bringing down Nathan Williams’ long ball and slotting past Robbie Williams. It was a first win in three league games for Airbus, who hold a game in hand over Colwyn Bay.
Mark Cadwallader scored a second hat-trick in three games as Llandudno stormed to a 5-1 win away to Caersws on Saturday.
Cadwallader opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a stunning strike from 25 yards out, before Mikey Davies also found the net from distance to double the lead nine minutes later. A superb first half for the Seasiders was completed soon after by Cadwallader’s back post header.
The veteran forward then completed his treble just two minutes after the break, taking his tally to nine goal in his last five matches.
Caersws January arrival Ashley Jones scored his first goal for the club by heading home Max McLaughlin’s free-kick in the 71st minute, but it was only a consolation as Llandudno netted a fifth late on as substitute Kieran Baker got on the scoresheet for the first time in a Seasiders shirt.
A third straight defeat leaves Caersws just two points above the relegation zone – but with two games in hand – after Ruthin Town earned a 1-1 draw against Vale of Clwyd rivals Denbigh Town at Maes Tegid.
It was a dream start for Dave Evans’ team as a long ball into the box was guided home by Llyr Morris with less than a minute on the clock.
However, Ruthin were reduced to 10 men eight minutes before half-time after as Matty Williams was shown a straight red card for a high challenge on Nathan Brown.
Denbigh capitalised on having a man advantage in the second half as they equalised in the 73rd minute through Owen Davies, who met Dan Clarke’s cross and headed beyond Dan Goldston.
Third-place Holywell Town moved six points above fourth-place Buckley Town with a 2-0 home win over Asa Hamilton’s side on Saturday.
It took just eight minutes for the Wellmen to make the breakthrough as Ilan Ap Gareth received Brady McGilloway’s cross and finished into the bottom corner.
There were four yellow cards in the first half as the encounter became fiery, before a red was shown to Buckley defender Nick Grogan four minutes before the break as he fouled Luca Hogan. With a man advantage, Holywell dominated in the second half but almost conceded when a header from Bucks forward Connor Littler hit the crossbar.
A second goal for the hosts eventually came in the 89th minute when Aled Bellis’ foul on Morgan Murray on the box – which earned the Buckley man a second yellow card – allowed Jamie Breese to convert from the penalty spot. The visitors finished the game with eight men as Scott McHarrie was sent off in stoppage time.
Gresford Athletic climbed into the top half with a third consecutive victory, triumphing 2-0 over Bangor 1876 at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium on Friday night.
The Colliers were in front inside just two minutes as Charlie Mann’s low cross was tapped in by Charley Edge for his eighth league goal of the campaign. Mann got on the scoresheet himself in the 18th minute as he lashed home a superb volley into the top corner.
Gresford pushed for a third goal after the break but had to settle for two as they also kept back-to-back clean sheets in home games for the first time since January 2022.
Jack Parry continued his bright form with two goals in Flint Mountain’s 3-0 win over Mold Alexandra at the Essity Stadium on Friday night.
Andy Brown gave Mountain the lead shortly after the half hour mark as he headed home from Ryan Kershaw’s free-kick.
The hosts were then awarded a penalty in first half stoppage time following a deliberate handball from Dafydd Griffith, who was shown a straight red card. Parry stepped up from the spot to double his side’s advantage.
The night got even better for Aden Shannon’s side in the 76th minute as Parry clinically found the bottom corner to bag his fourth goal in three games and wrap up back-to-back wins for Mountain.
