Nathan Leonard and Andy Hill have been selected as the managers of Tîm Rhanbarthol Cymru for North Wales and South Wales respectively.
Their two sides will meet in a pair of play-off fixtures at the end of this season for the right to be the FAW’s representative in the intermediate round stage of the 2024-25 UEFA Regions’ Cup.
The UEFA Regions’ Cup is a unique amateur tournament that has been running for more than 20 years, featuring players who have never competed at any professional level.
Leonard, 37, has forged a reputation as one of the JD Cymru North’s most promising young managers during his time at Guilsfield.
A former Guils player now in his second spell in the managerial hotseat, Leonard first took on the job at the age of 31 and the club have not finished outside the top six in his four full seasons in charge. This season, he has guided Guils to the Nathaniel MG Cup semi-finals for the first time in their history.
Meanwhile, Hill is currently in charge of JD Cymru South side Trefelin, having left Briton Ferry Llansawel at the end of September despite the Reds sitting top of the table.
The 45-year-old Swansea native, who made 232 appearances in the JD Cymru Premier as a player, is also the former manager of Goytre United and Llanelli Town – leading the latter to the top-flight in 2018 following back-to-back promotions.
Graham Evans, Vice-Chair of the FAW National Cup Board, said: “The standard of applications for these roles was extremely high and I am therefore delighted to confirm the appointments of Nathan and Andy.
“They are both excellent coaches and have proved as such with the performances of their respective clubs in the JD Cymru Leagues in recent years. I look forward to working with them in the build-up to the matches at the end of the season and then into the UEFA Regions’ Cup intermediate round.
“My thanks to Tony Pennock, Sian Cousins and Dewi Evans for their assistance and insight in the interview process.”
