Pontardawe Town keep fields tidy with My Green Valley partnership

They are committed to the environment at Pontardawe Town – and their link-up with a local community organisation proves it.

My Green Valley’s aim is to help keep the Swansea Valley green, clean and beautiful for all to enjoy – and they have a ‘Green Pitch Pledge’ to help tackle litter left around sports grounds.

Pontardawe Town is the latest venue for a ‘quick pick’ station – a collection point to be rolled out during games and training sessions to ensure that pitches are clean and tidy after use.,

Club secretary Gary Thomas is also a volunteer with My Green Valley – with his brother Steven leading the Pontardawe area group – and they were delighted to bring the two groups together.

“It is so important to us at Pontardawe Town as we have our own ground, Parc Ynysderw, plus a number of adjacent football and rugby fields, plus a 3G,” Gary says. “Those adjacent fields, together with the 3G, are managed by the council and are used by many different teams of all age groups, including our own boys and girls.

“Having this new litter-picking station will add to the already excellent efforts by us and other clubs in keeping these fields clean of litter and a pleasure to use.”
