South Wales claims advantage in UEFA Regions’ Cup play-off first leg

Tîm Rhanbarthol Cymru Y De claimed a 2-0 victory over Tîm Rhanbarthol Cymru Y Gogledd in the first leg of the UEFA Regions’ Cup play-off at Denbigh Town’s Central Park.

Goals from Cam Strinati and Alex Bonthron earned the win for Andy Hill’s side, who are now in pole position to represent Tîm Rhanbarthol Cymru in the UEFA Regions’ Cup intermediate round.

Cambrian & Clydach Vale full-back Strinati, whose last goal came back in December 2021 for the Cam Army, gave the South Walians the perfect start with an early strike.

Bonthron was always going to be a player to watch in these play-offs after he claimed this season’s JD Cymru South golden boot with 30 league goals and he headed home a second goal for Hill’s team early in the second half.

There is now work to do for Nathan Leonard’s North Wales side when they travel to Trefelin for the second leg on Sunday 12 May (KO 14:30).
