Tîm Rhanbarthol Cymru squads confirmed for UEFA Regions’ Cup play-offs

The Tîm Rhanbarthol Cymru squads for North Wales and South Wales have been confirmed ahead of their UEFA Regions’ Cup play-off matches.

The two sides will meet in a pair of games next month for the right to represent Tîm Rhanbarthol Cymru in the intermediate round of the 2024/25 UEFA Regions’ Cup in Serbia in September.

The first leg will take place at Denbigh Town’s Central Park on Saturday 4 May (KO 14:30), before the second leg at Ynys Park in Trefelin on Sunday 12 May (KO 14:30).

To be selected, players must never have signed a professional contract and never have played a single minute in any top-flight league. They must be at least 19 years old and no older than 40.

Players do not need to be Welsh but must have been registered in their region for a period of at least two years.

Nine JD Cymru North clubs are represented in Nathan Leonard’s North Wales squad, with Mold Alexandra featuring most prominently.

The Alex, who won the Welsh Blood Service League Cup this season have four players called up – Alex Swindell, Matty Lewis, Henry Nash and Danny Warren.

Leonard has handed call-ups to two of his Guilsfield side, as defender Chris Cathrall and prolific striker Iwan Matthews link up with their club gaffer.

Meanwhile, players from nine JD Cymru South clubs feature in Andy Hill’s South Wales squad, with Caerau Ely having the most players called up (three) following their impressive fifth-place finish in 2023/24 – Jack Turner, Joe Shephard and captain Jack Ashford.

This season’s JD Cymru South golden boot winner Alex Bonthron is rewarded with a place in the squad alongside Cwmbran Celtic teammate Lewis Iles, while Hill calls up two of his Trefelin team – Thomas Krauze and teenager Roan Piper.

Llanelli Town pushed Briton Ferry Llansawel all the way in the JD Cymru South title race this season and two of their players, Josh Allen and Jamie Baker, earn a call up.

In addition, two players from the third tier feature in the squad as Canton goalkeeper Suleimane Susso and Swansea University defender Noah Osborne are rewarded for their performances in the Ardal South West this season.
