UEFA Conference League | League phase draw explained

The New Saints will discover their league phase opponents in the UEFA Conference League in the draw at 1:30pm BST on Friday 30 August.

Craig Harrison’s side became the first ever Welsh club to reach this stage of a major European competition with a 3-0 aggregate victory over FK Panevezys in the Play-Off round.

Under the new UEFA Conference League format, 36 clubs compete in the league stage and are divided into six pots of six for the draw – based on their UEFA club coefficient. The New Saints are in Pot 4.

Each club will be drawn manually using a physical ball, starting with Pot 1. Once a ball is drawn, a designated automated software will randomly draw six opponents for that club – one from each pot.

The software will also decide the three matches each club will play at home and which three matches they will play away. Clubs cannot play more than two opponents from the same country.

Fixture dates and kick-off times will be confirmed on Saturday 31 August, but the scheduled matchdays are as follows:

Matchday 1: Thursday 3 October 2024
Matchday 2: Thursday 24 October 2024
Matchday 3: Thursday 7 November 2024
Matchday 4: Thursday 28 November 2024
Matchday 5: Thursday 12 December 2024
Matchday 6: Thursday 19 December 2024

After all six matchdays, the top eight ranked teams will receive a bye to the round of 16. The teams ranked from 9th to 24th will contest the knockout phase play-offs, with the teams ranked from 9th to 16th seeded for the draw. Teams ranked from 25th to 36th are eliminated from the competition.
