Carrie Jones
Carrie played for Cymru’s WU15s before earning six caps for the WU17s between 2018-2019. Carrie was called up to the Cymru senior team and earned her first senior cap, aged 15 years and 359 days old, in August 2019 in a 6-0 victory against Faroe Islands in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2021 qualifiers. Carrie has 37 caps for Cymru, scoring three goals including the winning goal against Republic of Ireland in Dublin to secure qualification for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 in Switzerland. During the early days of her career, Carrie’s parents used to drive her from Newtown to Cardiff 2/3 times a week, a 6-hour round journey, to train in the FAW’s development centre at the time. Cymru is special to Carrie because “It’s part of my identity, it’s where I grew up and it’s where Home is.” Carrie’s earliest memory of watching Cymru was the UEFA Men’s Euro tournament in 2016 where she watched at home and went straight to the garden to practice after Hal Robson Kanu scored against Belgium. Growing up her footballing idols were Gareth Bale and Steven Gerrard. Chwaraeodd Carrie i dîm D15 Cymru cyn ennill chwe chap gyda’r tîm D17 rhwng 2018-2019. Cafodd Carrie ei galw i dîm cyntaf Cymru ac enillodd ei chap uchaf cyntaf, yn 15 mlwydd a 359 diwrnod oed, ym mis Awst 2019 mewn buddugoliaeth o 6-0 yn erbyn Ynysoedd Faroe yng ngemau rhagbrofol Ewro 2021 UEFA i Ferched. Mae gan Carrie 37 cap dros Gymru, gan sgorio tair gôl gan gynnwys y gôl fuddugol yn erbyn Gweriniaeth Iwerddon yn Nulyn i sicrhau lle yn Ewro 2025 UEFA i Ferched yn y Swistir. Yn ystod dyddiau cynnar ei gyrfa, arferai rhieni Carrie ei gyrru o’r Drenewydd i Gaerdydd 2/3 gwaith yr wythnos, taith 6 awr o hyd i gyd, i hyfforddi yng nghanolfan ddatblygu Cymdeithas Bêl-droed Cymru ar y pryd. Mae Cymru yn arbennig i Carrie oherwydd “Mae’n rhan o fy hunaniaeth, dyma lle ges i fy magu a dyma lle mae fy Nghartref.” Atgof cynharaf Carrie o wylio Cymru oedd twrnamaint Ewro UEFA i Ddynion yn 2016 lle bu’n gwylio gartref a mynd yn syth i’r ardd i ymarfer ar ôl i Hal Robson Kanu sgorio yn erbyn Gwlad Belg. Yn ystod ei magwraeth, ei harwyr pêl-droed oedd Gareth Bale a Steven Gerrard.
