Genero Adran South | Weekend preview

Reigning Genero Adran South champions Briton Ferry Llansawel will aim to continue their winning start to the season when they host Cwmbran Celtic on Sunday.

The Reds thrashed Pontardawe Town 11-0 on the opening weekend of the campaign and followed that up with a 4-0 victory over Swansea University in the Genero Adran Trophy.

Newly-promoted Cwmbran Celtic announced their arrival in the second tier by beating Caldicot Town 4-2, but lost 4-0 to Cascade in the Genero Adran Trophy a fortnight ago.

Pontardawe Town bounced back from their heavy opening day defeat to Briton Ferry by winning 4-2 against Caldicot Town in the Genero Adran Trophy and now they host Swansea University.

The Swans snatched a stoppage time winner to beat Llanelli Town 2-1 on the opening weekend of the league, before their Adran Trophy defeat to Ferry a fortnight ago.

Pontardawe won three of the four meetings between the two clubs last season, with skipper Catryn Cook scoring six of her 13 league goals in those encounters.

Coed Duon and Llanelli Town meet in league action just two weeks after the Dragons were 2-1 winners in their Genero Adran Trophy clash.

Since then, both clubs have progressed in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup, with Coed Duon triumphing 5-2 over Cambrian & Clydach Vale and the Reds thrashing Morriston Town 19-0.

However, both clubs are still in search of their first league points following promotion. Llanelli suffered late heartbreak to lose in stoppage time to Swansea University on the opening weekend and the Dragons were beaten by Cascade.

Completing the weekend’s fixture list is a first home game of the season for Caldicot Town, as Cascade make the trip to Jubilee Way.

While Caldicot have begun the campaign with back-to-back 4-2 defeats in to Cwmbran Celtic and Pontardawe Town, Cascade have opened with back-to-back 4-0 wins against Coed Duon and Cwmbran Celtic.

The two clubs met on five separate occasions last season, with Cascade emerging victorious each time.
