Connah’s Quay Nomads win Genero Adran North U19 title

Connah’s Quay Nomads secured the Genero Adran North U19 title for the first time with an emphatic 5-0 win away at The New Saints on Friday night.

Knowing that victory would confirm top spot but defeat would hand TNS the chance to win the title themselves, the Nomads came flying out of the blocks but it remained goalless at the break.

However, Alisha Wright scored just two minutes into the second half which opened the floodgates at Park Hall. Sophie Rawling netted a superb free-kick, Polly Wild-McGregor bagged a brace and Wright wrapped up the scoring with her second of the night in stoppage time.

Of their nine league games this season, the Nomads have won seven, draw one and lost one – scoring 29 goals and conceding just nine.

They will now take on the Genero Adran South U19 champion in the national final on Sunday 21 April.

“It’s fantastic, they’ve worked hard all season and got some fantastic results,” coach Ross Jones said. “Tonight I thought they were unplayable at times.

“The team have had their ups and downs as you do throughout the season but tonight you could see what it meant to win the title.”
