The girls of Connah’s Quay Nomads Player Development Centre welcomed a special guest this week – new Cymru head coach Rhian Wilkinson.
The former Canada international popped into the Nomads’ Easter football camp to meet the players and even have a chat, making it a very exciting day for all involved, not least the club’s technical director Jay Catton.
“She was so generous with her time meeting all players in attendance, engaging and answering questions the girls had,” Catton said, describing Wilkinson as “an incredible role model for our young girl players at the club who aspire to play at the highest level they can.”
The Nomads now have girls’ teams from under 9s to under 16s as well as an under-19s squad and the seniors, which shows just how much the women’s and girls’ game is growing.
“There has never been a more exciting time to be involved in the female section of the game,” Catton said. “We have no doubt this visit will be huge inspiration and motivation for our girls in their footballing journeys.”
