Genero Adran Premier round-up | Barry Town United secure back-to-back wins in late surge for top four

Cardiff City maintained their six-point lead at the top of the Genero Adran Premier table after edging out spirited Pontypridd United side 2-1 at Cardiff International Sports Campus.

Bluebirds captain Siobhan Walsh opened the scoring with a calmly converted penalty on the half hour mark, but the Dragons drew level nine minutes later as youngster Efa Preece-Jones fired home from distance.

As the visitors continued to frustrate the league leaders, it was the in-form Eliza Collie who provided the winning moment in the 70th minute. The forward headed in from Kelly Adams’ cross for her 13th goal in seven matches. .

Second-place Swansea City produced another dominant display to secure a top four finish with a 5-0 victory over The New Saints at Llandarcy.

Cool finishes from Katy Hosford and Stacey John-Davis saw the Swans open up a two-goal cushion inside the opening 12 minutes, while Sammy Wynne headed home a third just before the hour mark.

John-Davis robbed TNS off the ball and grabbed her second on 74 minutes, before the result was wrapped up five minutes from time as Chloe Chivers found the net in the league for the first time since the opening weekend of the campaign.

Wrexham also confirmed their place in the Genero Adran Premier top four with a narrow 1-0 victory over Aberystwyth Town at The Rock.

The decisive moment came nine minutes into the second half as Rosie Hughes’ header back across goal was nodded home by midfielder Carra Jones from close range.

The battle for the final spot in the Championship Conference looks set to go down to the wire, as fifth-place Aberystwyth remain four points behind fourth-place TNS but with two games in hand.

Barry Town United are making a late surge for the top four themselves, as they drew level on points with Aberystwyth thanks to a 1-0 away win at Cardiff Met.

The decisive moment came in the 74th minute when Aimee Deacon scored from the penalty spot, securing back-to-back wins for Barry as they leapfrogged Met in the table.
