Genero Adran Premier round-up | Cardiff City maintain top spot with derby win

Cardiff City took home the bragging rights in the South Wales derby and maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a 1-0 win away at Swansea City.

It was a feisty affair at Llandarcy, with the decisive moment coming in the 67th minute when Molly Kehoe received the ball from Tija Richardson and raced through on goal before firing past Claire Skinner.

Defeat for the Swans meant that Wrexham moved second in the Genero Adran Premier table with a hard-fought 3-0 victory away at Cardiff Met.

Following a goalless first half, Rosie Hughes netted her 10th league goal of the season just after the hour mark to open the scoring. Mari Gibbard doubled the advantage with a clever finish over Daisy Farrow and substitute Ava Suckley wrapped up the win late on.

The only negative for Wrexham was a second yellow card for Hughes in stoppage time, meaning she will miss the trip to Swansea in a fortnight.

The New Saints came from two goals down to win 4-3 against Aberystwyth Town and move into the top half of the table.

Gwen Jones and Imi Scourfield had appeared to put the Seasiders in control at Park Hall, but a brace from Caitlin Chapman alongside Beth Lewis’ penalty and Ella Hartley’s 18-yard finish turned the game in style around for the hosts. Niamh Duggan’s long-range free-kick would prove to only be a consolation for Aber.

Barry Town United secured a first away win of the season and condemned Pontypridd United to a seventh consecutive defeat by triumphing 3-0 at USW Sports Park.

Aimee Deacon coolly converted a penalty in the 32nd minute to open the scoring, while Holly Jenkins doubled the lead on the stroke of half-time by turning the ball home from Deacon’s corner delivery.

Substitute India Shanahan added her name to the scoresheet with one minute of the 90 remaining by calming finishing past Klaudia Wojtyczka after being played through by Emily Freeman.

Genero Adran Premier results:

Cardiff Met 0-3 Wrexham
Pontypridd United 0-3 Barry Town United
Swansea City 0-1 Cardiff City
The New Saints 4-3 Aberystwyth Town
