Robyn Pinder scored a dramatic late goal to earn Swansea City a 2-1 victory against The New Saints at Park Hall on Sunday afternoon.
Following a goalless first half, Stacey John-Davis broke the deadlock for Swansea just after the hour mark with her first goal of the season but a stunning 84th-minute strike from Ella Hartley looked to have earned TNS a point.
That was until the fourth minute of stoppage time, when Alicia Powe’s long ball into the box found Pinder, who kept her cool to slot past Mackenzie Haydn-Jones and win the game for the Swans.
Barry Town United picked up their first points of the campaign with a 4-2 win over Cardiff Met at Jenner Park.
Amy Long gave the Archers the lead after just three minutes, but a blistering 20-minute spell from Barry turned the game on its head as Aimee Deacon, India Shanahan and Holly Jenkins all found the net to make it 3-1 by half-time.
Met’s task was made harder when Grace Batsford received a second yellow card early in the second half, but Faith Mulenga pulled a goal back against her former club soon after. However, Barry wrapped up the win in the 86th minute when Taite Trivett scored a deserved goal after a sublime individual display.
Aberystwyth Town were beaten for the first time this season as Wrexham came from behind to triumph 2-1 at Park Avenue.
Seasiders captain Amy Jenkins scored for the third game in a row to give her side the lead in the sixth minute, but Wrexham had turned the game around by half-time as Rosie Hughes equalised and Rebecca Pritchard put them in front. Steve Dale’s side are up to second in the table.
Aberystwyth’s defeat leaves league leaders Cardiff City as the only remaining unbeaten side in the division following their 5-1 away win at Pontypridd United.
Eliza Collie, Siobhan Walsh, Molly Kehoe, Seren Watkins and Mikayla Cook all found the net in the opening 61 minutes before Shannon Greenway netted a consolation for the hosts. Dragons head coach James Fishlock resigned from his position after the defeat.
