Genero Adran South round-up: Leaders Cardiff Met drop points at home to Cwmbran Celtic

Genero Adran South leaders Cardiff Met dropped points for the first time in seven league games as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Cwmbran Celtic at Cyncoed Stadium.

Celtic, who could still mathematically catch Met at the top of the table before the game, took the lead just before half-time when Chelsea Cochrane found the net against her former club.

Met equalised on the hour mark as Esme Kilburn-Thompson continued her fine form with her 10th goal in seven league games.

The two sides meet again at Avondale Motor Park Arena on Wednesday night, where victory for the Archers will be enough for them to secure the Genero Adran South title.

Esme Kilburn-Thompson is now only one goal behind top goalscorer Ellis Lunn of Cascade YC with 11 goals

Carmarthen Town kept up the pressure on Met and moved up to second in the table with a 4-1 win away at Llanelli Town.

Jasmine Guymer opened the scoring for the visitors just before the half hour mark, while Casi Jones doubled their lead soon after. However, Llanelli were back in the game by half-time as Ffion Varney found the net.

There remained just one goal between the two sides until the 75th minute, when Evie Jones scored for the second league game in a row to give Carmarthen breathing space once again. Summer Evans sealed the victory late on with a stunning free-kick from 30 yards out.

Cascade continued their resurgence with a 2-1 victory away at title contenders Pure Swansea.

Pure Swansea led at the break thanks to Hannah Pinney’s goal in the 23rd minute, but half-time substitutions turned the game in Cascade’s favour as the visitors made three changes at the break.

Phoebe Ware was one of those to come off the bench and found the equaliser just three minutes into the second half – her first league goal for over two years – before fellow substitute Trinity Reakes netted what proved to be the winner in the 55th minute. It was the 16-year-old’s first Genero Adran South goal in only her second league appearance.

Cascade have now picked up 19 points from the last 21 available, after losing all of their opening five league matches of the campaign, and have climbed up to fourth in the table in the process.
