Genero Adran South round-up: Carmarthen Town stage stunning second half comeback

Carmarthen Town came from three goals down to secure a thrilling 4-3 victory over Pure Swansea at the LHP Stadium in the Genero Adran South.

An early strike from Poppy Brown and a brace from in-form forward Kalena Walters-Wright put the Swans three goals to the good at the break.

However, Carmarthen completed a remarkable second half comeback, which began in the 52nd minute as Flavia Jenkins received Hannah Pusey’s pass on the edge of the area and curled beyond Jess Cooper with help via the post.

Casi Jones netted at the second time of asking after her initial effort hit the woodwork, before she found Ophelia Jenkins, whose strike across goal nestled into the bottom corner to level the contest midway through the second half.

The Old Gold completed their epic turnaround in the 72nd minute as Summer Evans bundled the ball home from a corner to bag her fourth league goal of the season. Carwyn Phillips’ side are now back level on points with the Swans after earning their fourth consecutive home win in all competitions.

Defeat for Pure Swansea meant that Cardiff Met moved three points at the top of the table with a 5-0 victory over Llanelli Town at Stebonheath.

Esme Kilburn-Thompson scored twice either side of Anna Houghton’s third goal in as many games to give the Archers a healthy three-goal lead at the interval.

Summer Kilby and Emily Bayliss got in on the act in the second half to round off a five-star performance from Jonathan Nash’s side, who avenged their shock loss to the Reds in November’s reverse fixture.

Ellis Lunn scored a second consecutive hat-trick as Cascade continued their resurgence and moved five points clear of the relegation zone with an emphatic 6-0 win over Taffs Well at Rhiw Dda’r.

Liv Townsend and Annaliese Lewis gave Cascade a two-goal lead at half-time before Erin Parry added a third goal six minutes after the restart.

Lunn bagged her hat-trick within the space of 21 minutes in the closing stages of the contest as the striker built on her treble against Carmarthen Town last weekend. Simon Moran’s side have now won their last three league matches.

Penybont produced a stunning first half display to move up to fourth in the table with a 4-2 victory over Cwmbran Celtic at the DragonBet Stadium.

Bont made a dream start as Mikaela Hood, Cerys Jones and Layla Williams all scored to give the hosts a three-goal cushion inside just 15 minutes. Jones then grabbed her second of the afternoon shortly before half-time to put Bont in a commanding position.

Jodie Challenger and Gracie Grosvenor both netted their first ever Genero Adran South goals late in the day to give Celtic a late glimmer of hope, but ultimately the damage was already done as Bont claimed their fourth league victory of the campaign.
