Genero Adran North round-up: Nomads extend lead at the top as Flint win a thriller

Connah’s Quay Nomads moved six points clear at the top of the Genero Adran North with a 4-1 victory over Bangor at Deeside Stadium.

The Nomads wasted no time in Flintshire and took the lead after just nine minutes played as Elana Harley met Phoebe Ellis’ teasing free-kick delivery and volleyed home into the bottom corner.

Bangor captain Ffion Bee turned Ella Jones’ low ball into her own net to give the Nomads a second goal on 16 minutes before Jones found the net herself in the 31st minute by receiving Libby Mackenzie’s through ball and firing beyond Catrin Roberts via the underside of the crossbar for her 18th league goal of the season already.

Hannah Slack continued her breakthrough season for the reigning champions to make it four before half-time as the teenager ran onto Mae Hodgers’ defence-splitting pass and rolled the ball into the bottom corner.

Bangor pulled a goal back just before the hour mark thanks to Cerys Parry, who retrieved a loose ball after Evie Chard went to ground injured and slotted beyond the outrushing Ruby Stevens from outside the area.

The Nomads were denied on numerous occasions by substitute goalkeeper Erin Basinger in the second half, but the first half blitz was enough to see Jordan Parry’s continue their 100% record in the league this season.
